"Darn good...tender Chicken Tikka Masala, good sauce, light color but rich flavor in the right way, no sweet or sour overtones, just straight up. "Extra Spicy" was mild for me but I def welcome the little bit of bite. The tamarind sauce is thin but legit, the green chutney is thick and also not too sweet or sour, exceptional. Nan is nan but they do that right too. Excellent quality meal."
"I ordered the Palak Dal combo, and it turned out to be a really satisfying meal! The Palak Dal was flavorful and comforting — rich, perfectly spiced, and had that homemade taste that’s hard to find in takeout. The Basmati rice was fluffy, aromatic, and paired beautifully with the dal. It wasn’t oily or clumpy — just clean and well-cooked. And to top it off, they included two papads instead of one — fresh, crisp, and a great crunchy side. Everything came neatly packed and still warm. It’s simple food done right — healthy, hearty, and full of flavor. Definitely something I’d order again. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5)"

"Chicken Biryani and Chicken Seekh Kabob Karahi were perfect, well seasoned, the right amount of salt and not overwhelmingly spicy. We love ordering from here! "
"Chicken Karahi used to be great, with boneless tender stewed chunks of chicken. But tonight it was mostly bone and barely any meat that was tough. They even put whole neck in there (all bones). Seasoning is still two thumbs up though. I'm more sad than upset really."

"Shalimar is my all time favorite restaurant; great prices and even better food -- they have the best nihari, the best kebab (beef) and best chicken tandoori; naan is always fresh and fluffy. Overall truly can never go wrong with this place"
"I have tried all the Desi restaurants in the area the 31. Daal Masala is not as flavorful as it should be. Also the 10. Seekh Kabab Murgh in the picture shows three kababs however upon ordering they only provide a single one. However these two items are not very popular even within the restaurant I would recommend trying something else they offer instead. They are very nice people though"

"Oooh this place is so good, and I have tried a lot of indian food in the Richmond! The 72. Lamb Coconut curry was my favorite but the 80. Chicken Madras and 22. Garlic Naan also had great flavor. Delivery was fast and tasted fresh. Pretty standard portion sizes. Will order again!"

"The thali was so good. I've rarely had Indian food in the Bay area where they try and be balanced about the nutritional value in the food. There were enough greens and salad, the curries had vegetables in them and not just the typical orange fatty curry you get at Indian restaurants. The saag in the thali was so tasty and fresh"
"It's ok. Tikka Masala was a bit watery and same with the Mango Lassi. The food isn't bad at all, but I used to live near several Indian food places that had more flavorful and rich tasting food. Like for example, the Mango Lassi I'm used to is sweet, mildly sour and rich and has some consistency, whereas this one tastes watered down. Again, not bad, food could just be richer."

"Delicious! The beef is cut in large cubes, and melts in your mouth. It's tender enough to shred with a fork if you prefer smaller pieces. As for the coconut rice, it's always delicious and not too sweet. It's even great just to just order to have for breakfast (heated, served with an egg on top that's been cook over easy). Stewed Beef Noodle Soup Coconut Rice"
"Pros: excellent packaging for the Thai Iced Tea, and overall. There were no spills, and even if there was, the bag was ready. The bag and Pad Thai box were clean. Presentation was as good as it could possibly be for takeout! Instructions were also followed (non-spicy). Cons: The Pad Thai was sadly a let down. The noodles were acceptable (only a little powdery), but the chicken was like floss (tough, and flavorless; like it was not prepped or marinated at all), spring onion was also flavorless and paper-like, the sprouts tasted acceptable but oxidized (less than fresh, a bit old). The egg was acceptable, but chunky - resulting in a tougher texture and with less sauce able to coat it (the egg was probably cooked in a rush while multitasking - thrown into the wok in a rush, then left to sit and toughen). Overall, the experience was not terrible, and it was only my first time ordering from ThongLor, and on a Saturday night about an hour from closing. Maybe it was just a bad night."

"The Chicken Kheema Dosa is a bit weird, but pretty good, and also a ton of food for a decent-for-SF price. It's a gigantic dosa (in an even more gigantic package), with a softer, more crepe-like texture than I've had before (but then I'm hardly an expert on South Indian food). The soft, light dosa stuffed with a ton of minced chicken is a bit messy to eat, but definitely worth it. The green (coconut?) chutney perfectly complements the dosa and chicken; the resulting combination has lots of flavor and a bit of spice. The orange (tomato?) chutney is less exciting, but still not bad. And there's two sambar, as well. Really, the only negative is that there will be a ton left over and I have no idea how to reheat dosas without destroying them… Anyway, I'm happy I accidentally ordered from the wrong dosa place, but after this pleasant surprise, I will order from them again (and it won't be an accident). There's tons of other stuff on the menu that looks worth trying."
"It’s an ideal way to kick off your lazy weekend with a delightful South Indian Vegan Breakfast. From the meticulous attention to packaging, the fluffy texture of Idli/idly, to the harmonious balance of sambar and chutneys, I thoroughly enjoyed this nutritious and delectable breakfast (and it comes in sufficient quantity it might also cover lunch). It's a perfect blend of healthiness, flavor, savoriness, and light on calorie intake. I surely coming back to try some more."
