Korean soul food made with traditional techniques and ingredients is the hook at Her Name Is Han. Everything at this darling of a restaurant is made slowly from scratch using generations-old recipes for banchan, seafood stews, noodles, barbecue, and beyond. Han Dumplings — handcrafted boiled dumplings filled with minced pork, napa cabbage, and tofu — are great. KFC doesn’t stand for what you think it does; here, it means boneless, crunchy Korean Fried Chicken with homemade sweet-and-sour sauce and radish pickles. The classic bulgogi bibimbap comes heaped with five kinds of well-seasoned vegetables, beef bulgogi, and a jidan egg over rice. Korean pancakes are crispy and greaseless, loaded with kimchi or shrimp and hot peppers. They’re a nice side dish for an order of galbi BBQ — fire-grilled bone-in beef marinated until sweet and sticky in the chef's soy sauce. Hot pots come with a variety of toppings, but a standout is the Kimchi Jjim — homemade kimchi with pork ribs, squash, and tofu in a rich anchovy broth. Lucky for you it’s a large enough portion for two to three — or to save for leftovers.
