"Floral, herbaceous, hearty, and luxurious- those are the words I’d use to describe Persian cuisine. Recently, I ordered from Saffron Kitchen on Seamless and was amazed. I tried the Saffron Tikka Kabob, Salata Shirazi, Firni/Phirni (a sweet rose-water rice custard), Doogh (a savory yogurt drink), Naan (Barbari, similar to Focaccia), and Gheimeh (a tomato and meat-braised stew with split peas, topped with fried potato sticks). All of which, was phenomenal. The same, being persisted here. One essential missing from Seamless was Ghormeh Sabzi, a comforting herb stew with slow-cooked beef/lamb, sun-dried lime, and kidney beans. If you’re familiar with collard greens, the flavor is somewhat similar. Another classic, Koobideh Kabob, also shines here: minced meat whipped and grilled to a springy texture, served with roasted tomato, chile, and a bed of saffron basmati rice. The sides deserve their own mention. Yogurt sauce, garlic-cilantro sauce, Shirazi salad, and torshi kalam ghermez (pickled red cabbage). Together, these combinations echo flavors you might recognize in Mexican cuisine: citrus crema, salsa verde, pico de gallo, and pickled red onions. What sets Saffron Kitchen apart is how distinct it feels in a city already rich with Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, Greek, and Indian options. It holds its own with unique offerings and generous hospitality. The Afghan dishes on the menu are also worth exploring, which I plan to try in future orders. As a final note, it would be exciting to see dishes like tahdig or zereshk polo possibly someday. But as it stands now, I’d give this place six stars if I could. Incredible flavors, abundant portions, and genuine care in every detail."
