"After reading the rave reviews, I expected better. This place costs considerably more than any of the other fish and chip shops we usually order from, but the quality was no better. The only part of the meal we enjoyed were the fish bites which were very fresh and tasty, but the chips were completely subpar...dry, undercooked, underseasoned and chalky. Minimum chips at almost $11 definitely shouldn't taste that cheap. The potato cakes were average, the oil used to cook them didn't taste particularly fresh. I've had better, I've had worse. All in all a very average meal which cost more than it was worth, we'll be sticking to our local fish and chip shop."

Along with a standard spring roll which every other place seems to have a soggy outer and over cooked inner, Clayton Fish and Chips nailed it with a crispy outer shell and a soft cooked inner! The plain hamburger was everything that a standard milkbar burger is but executed flawlessly; no soggy bun, seasoned patty and packaged greatly! As a big chip fan, I would’ve liked more chicken salt however they were salted to the normal taste buds very well. Everyone has seen those jumbo bottles of "chocolate" syrup with the pump top; it's just that blended with milk, like you'd find at a cheap milkbar. Bad flavour, bad texture. Not thick at all, and an absolute rip off for $11! For that cost I was expecting one of the more recent fancy thickshakes with high quality ingredients. If I had ordered at the restaurant I probably would have sent it back and asked for a refund."

We ordered the Aussie and the Supreme, however they were both almost identical, with lots of shredded ham and not much else. I don't normally give critical reviews, but I want this shop to do better and I think it can improve. The shredded ham is too much, almost 1cm thickness of ham between the crust and the cheese. Save on your ham and save on your costs, use the ham sparingly. Add other ingredients, and use more tomato paste or sauces to enhance the flavour. "
