The place was famous for its clam chowder and we'd have a bowl before having a skirt steak cooked medium (not medium rare!) with fries or mashed potato. Crooked Horns has somehow made a Skirt Steak that is more flavorful than the French place's, and if you can get their Soup Of The Day on a Friday, the clam chowder is extremely close; not quite the same but clearly reminiscent, and clearly homemade, and clearly the best and tastiest in the DeKalb/Sycamore metropolitan area. The Crooked Horns restaurant has captured lightning in a bottle. For me, this is comfort food, and it's just fantastic. The best. A+, 10/10, 5 stars."
