However, we did wait over an hour for “the best burger in America,” and that was to go. Dine in? Plan a half day. Enter “Mahaloha”. Somewhat of an unknown spot in Kailua. Relatively new, they aim to please. And please they did. Their double patty cheeseburger was BETTER than the “best burger in the US” at their competitor’s location 15 miles north. The patties were perfectly grilled to medium. The buns were just Hawaiian enough; and then there’s the sauce. THE. SAUCE. As they say, it, “broke da mouth.” Ordered online for pickup, and, if I may, Lord have mercy! WORLD CLASS burger! After 25 countries and an endless quest to find the WORLD’S best burger, Mahaloha EASILY makes the top five. As I took the first bite, it got a little awkward as I laughed out loud next to the other guests; I was by myself. I’ll say this. I’m contemplating a trip from Seattle to Kailua JUST to get a Mahaloha burger. "
