Lately my issues with this store and a few other locations are the taste and cooking methods. The last couple meals have been disappointing. My current order was the steak and chicken combo plate with hash brown casserole and turnip greens. My steak, thick cut had the following factors that cause chewiness: the cut of meat (some cuts are naturally tougher) but it was mostly fat. Tough and very hard to chew. Mostly gristle. I asked for medium well and that was fine. But I feel the cooking method (overcooking dries out the meat) was done to quickly. Could not finish. The chicken was cooked to perfection and soft. Turnip greens had an odd flavor. Almost like grease. Usually they are always good. The hash brown casserole had a similar taste but would say it was ok. The second plate was trout. It was the same as the steak, very over cooked. Very dry. Sides were broccoli and mashed potatoes. Great flavors. Taste according to my daughter was fine. Now moving on to the bread, biscuits have been way under cooked lately and the new corn muffins are always very dry. I'm hoping this is not an ongoing issue with the new changes going on. Hope to see food improvements, I have always enjoyed Cracker Barrel's comfort food and they will continue to have my business as long as this issue is corrected."
