"First time ordering and definitely won't be the last. The Lomo Saltado was tasty but more fries than meat. Portion size of the meat better suited for someone with a small appetite. The Yucas Fritas were thick cut, lightly fried and crispy. Don't think French fries, yuca is far more dense so it is dry on the inside not greasy/oily, they are great dipped in the green sauce. Not a fan of the yellow sauce it's a thick mayo like sauce with a hint of flavor. The green sauce has moderate heat from the jalapeno and the cilantro makes the flavor pop. Arroz con Cerdo WOW so good loved the flavor of the black beans better than the Cuban and Puerto Rican black beans I make. The rice is not bland, it is salted lightly. The tostones were a sweet treat, some of the pickled onions were on top of them but the savoriness was not off putting. The pork was amazing, a light fry gave it a slightly crunchy outside with a succulent moist and tender inside, excellent seasoning. 5⭐ out of 5!"

The CHICHA MORADA/ PURPLE CORN JUICE tastes like if you added mulled wine to grape juice, despite there being no wine or grapes in the drink. The the COLOMBIAN EMPANADAS (GF, LF, VG available) was like a corn tortilla fried samosa in the best way possible. The PERUVIAN EMPANADAS (LF, VG available) pastry was so nice and buttery and slightly sweet and the filling was the perfect amount of spicy and savory. I don't know what the sauces are but they taste great and I could drink the red one just by itself. "This was a really strang experience. I got a Burrito and a Quessadilla, chips and guacamole. I was really pleasantly surprised about the quesadilla, which was not what I expected AT ALL. To start with, it was $5 for a steak one. Amazing. I expected a little tiny corn tortilla with cheese and steak. I GOT two GIANT calzone-esque deep fried pockets of meat (pork, not the steak), queso Fresca (?), and cilantro. My burrito was meant to be pork, it had steak instead. The pork was so much better. It also was huge, and covered in melted cheese. I didn't finish it. I didnt want to. Everything was fine, but just not nearly as good as I was hoping. It had a lot of meat, which I like, but it also had some pinto beans which were not prepared in a way I loved. There were tomatoes and avocado chunks and onions and cilantro. The tortilla was delicious, the cheese on the tortilla was a bit too globby for my taste. I bought Guacamole because I didnt think the burrito came with any, but there was some and so I spent $6 on guacamole I didnt really need or want. The guacamole is fine, but very veggie heavy. Kind of crunchy with the balance of tomatoes and onions compared to avocado, but I did really like the flavor besides. The chips I got (extra purchase) were fine. Perfectly average, well salted. So overall, the Quesadillasare not an appetizer (as they are priced). The Burritos were not my favorite. It included a wedge of lime/limon. That one taco was well worth the price. Tanqueria El Jalapeno stands out among west side Madison Mexican restaurants. "I really love chilis but my order had issues. My tenders weren't tossed in their honey chipotle style sauce. It wasnt even the honey chipotle sauce. It was hot souce instead. I just received plain tenders. My sauces weren't closed so I received it messy. My fajita order came with everything but not the right portions. The pick was literally 5 cubes of tomato. Ontop of that, I did t receive fries with my order. I'm not happy with this service and hope they can continue to delivergreat service. "
