"I grew up in Trenton (Villa Park) in the 80s and every time I would sleep over at my grandmom's house, we would get a well-done mushroom and onion pie from Gervasio's. For the uninitiated, they used to be in the same building where Killarney's is now. To say that I grew up right between the two infamous Trenton Tomato Pie joints and STILL preferred Gervasio's time and time again is a true testament to how good their pie is. When I saw that they had come back from the dead, I was floored. It was like winning the food lottery. The pie is EXACTLY the same, with beautiful little crispy bubbles all over the crust. The portion size was much smaller than expected, and it didn’t resemble the photos at all. It hardly had any powdered sugar at all, what you see in the photos is literally it, which is a key detail for French toast presentation. Additionally, no napkins or utensils were provided.
For $40 (with 2 drinks), I expected much better quality and attention to detail. I know this place is usually better, but this particular order was very disappointing.
