"Ever dish is appetizing . I only finished part of the dish of curry chicken . I'm a little let down because I was expecting the curry chicken to have a lot more meat in the food container that it was in but the flavor of the chicken juices is so wonderful that I can already tell I'll be returning soon . "My wife is Trini and so my in-laws are first generation Trinidadian immigrants who make some of the best Trini dishes I've ever had. So you can get imagine my excitement to learn that a restaurant serving authentic Trini food had returned to the area. My wife used to eat here when it was the original Teddy's and was also excited to have some good old home food. But I was extremely disappointed when I opened the container to see very small portions of oxtails and rice. The meat was tough and the sauce was very oily. Next I tried the doubles. The Chana had a very tasty sauce however they were a bit undercooked and hard. Not at all tender or creamy as I had expected. The curry chicken was lost in the sauce . Finally I got to the main event, the shark & 2. Fried Bake and Shark. It was dry and resembled minced shark not the filet that I was hoping to find. And lastly the bake itself was too hard and chewy. Overall I have to give it a 3 out of 5 forks, a hard pass but I would give Teddy's a second chance. Maybe it was just a one off and not typical of their quality. But the prices were very expensive considering the portion sizes. The meat dishes need more meat to be a decent value. Ultimately good flavors but mediocre presentation and preparation.

"I am shocked at the reviews. This is my go to place. Actually, the only carribean place I support in the DMV that actually have tender oxtails. The flavor is in every bite. Not to mention when I order cocoa bread or brown stew chicken, everything is fresh and taste good. They have been out of jerk wings lately when I go but they were tasty too. "I ordered the large oxtail entree. As you can see from the photos, it was well packaged, presentation great, and wonderful flavor. Juicy, meaty and not too sweet (I don't like sweet tasting oxtail stew). The rice and peas and cabbage were also delicious, with enough gravy for mix into them. The Fried Plantains were cooked perfectly! Sweet and not overcooked. Just enough balance of soft and crisp. Saving the beef patty and wings for dinner but they also look and smell delicious.
