"Just had my first order from Star KTV and I'm pretty disappointed after reading so much praise on the SacramentoFoodies subreddit. I ordered Rice (2) 飯 (2) which was described as fried rice but was just steamed rice. (More on this later) I could've just made steamed rice on my rice cooker and saved the price of this. The drink I ordered, a Grape Slush w/ Cheese Cloud 芝芝葡萄, was unavailable so I was sent a regular boba milk tea. It at least tasted pretty good, but I'm disappointed that I didn't get to try what I wanted. The Roasted Duck Over Rice 燒鴨飯 was bland and consisted of like 70% steamed rice. The Duck skin was nice and salty. Not overly salty, but salt was the only flavor I really detected. The duck meat was dry and lacked flavor. The dish had what tasted like steamed bok choy which was okay but didn't help the bland duck. The steamed rice was bad. It tasted old and on the verge of hardening. This applies to the steamed rice that came with the duck dish and to the steamed rice that was described as fried rice. This whole dish would've benefitted from some sort of broth or gravy to add any sort of flavor. The one good thing was the House Chow Mein 招牌炒面. All the components were cooked well, everything was flavorful, and after the duck dish I was grateful to taste something. Overall a really disappointing meal. I'll try anything twice so I'll give it a shot again eventually, mostly just to take another shot at trying one of their slush with cheese cloud drinks. Better luck next time, I guess."
