"I didnt order it, but ate it, and was so impressed that I made sure to save the restaurants name! We had the tikka masala, butter chicken and the spicy chicken rice. I have ordered from many Indian restaurants in Calgary and many have sugary sauces lacking distinct flavour. Not this place!! "
"We order from Masala Bhavan regularly (50+ times) and love that the curries have a good amount of meat versus other Indian restaurants in Calgary and are consistently delicious. Unfortunately today our two curry dishes had very little meat in them, arguably one portion across the two orders. I hope this restaurant is not going the same way as other Indian restaurants as we love this place!"

"Always appreciate and am never disappointed with the quality of food. Great taste, value and a return customer for certain. Always fulfilling. "
"The butter chicken sauce was delicious but there were only 4 pieces of chicken in the entire dish. As this dish is over 15 dollars, I would expect more. The fried rice was nothing special. I wouldnt consider it like the fried rice I've had at other places. Normally you have spices with rice, eggs, and veggies, whereas this was basically plain rice with some chunks of eggs in some of it. I normally love this kind of food but it was not what I expected. "This was my first time having Chicken Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken, and it definitely held up to my expectations. These were scrumptious, I enjoyed the flavor and texture. These portions were quite large, and I did have leftovers but that's so totally fine! I definitely would recommend this and am excited to order again sometime! (Ignore the slurpee)"

"The DAAL TADKA was so delicious and just the righ level of spice(medium). The ALOO GOBHI is good too. The GARLIC NAAN tastes nice and good for scooping. SAMOSA VEG (2PCS) taste really good and are big but a bit salty. Portions are also good. I'll have leftovers for a few days. "
"METHI MALAI CHICKEN was excellent, I had never tried it before. It has a bit of a tangy flavor. CHANNA MASALA is a nice staple dish. Paired with butter naan. My only complaint is the naan arrives a bit soggy (I don't think it can be helped because it's packaged hot) but a quick round in the toaster oven fixes that."

"Ordered the lamb curry and for $26 save your money!
It came in the smallest container and had NO meat (maybe 2 pieces in the container). This wouldn't even be enough to feed one person. Also the curry was pure liquid...resembles a birria. We’ve never been in the slightest bit disappointed; take-out, delivery, and in-person dining have all been excellent. The staff are polite, friendly and very knowledgeable.
We’ve never had Indian cuisine this good and will always be using Indian Ocean when looking to enjoy this international cuisine!!!"
"The Paneer Korma dish was bland compared to the ones we get in Kelowna. Didn't enjoy it much and didn't finish it, but the spice level was mild as requested, the sauce was thick and the paneer was plentiful. The Mix Veg Pakora were way too spicy and I couldn't eat them at all. They were even spicy for my daughter-in-law and she likes things really hot. The sauces that came with them weren't very tasty either. The Garlic Naan was kind of thin and dry. The Steamed Basmati Rice was great and the portion was huge. My husband had the Chicken Korma and he thought it was fine, but I like lots of flavor in Indian food."

Whenever we have been to the place, we have loved the food, but this time it was disappointing. There were barely two small pieces of paneer in the entire portion. "Tonight I was in heaven with my order. Massive portions =great value for your money. Paleek Panor was the reason for my order tonight. Felt like some spinach and spinach was forefront! So much spinach in fact I went to my fridge to dilute it of sorts had I had some sour cream. Didn't have that so I pivoted and stirred in 35% whipping cream. This small addition made a world of difference. Mildly creamy spicy dish. Paleek I ended up dipping the chicken in the spinach dish as it was so good! 4-6 meals will be had from my order tonight.

"The quality of service here is top notch, the staff is very responsive and helpful. The food was amazing especially the quality and quantity of the biriyani was perfect (enough for two people!), the goat was very tender and it had a good amount of it. The extra spicy felt more like medium spicy to me and I believe you need to emphasize the spice level if you need it extra hot."
"Lamb achari was not as show in the picture. Portions were 2-3 small pieces. Saffron rice lost its softness. One tandoori piece was super burnt. Maybe it was due to closing timing. They used to serve good food. Not anymore."

"Shahi paneer was not worth the price, received the dish with 8 pieces of paneer in it which is far less than other restaurants. Paratha was dry, as was the chicken in the biryani. The chili momo's were really the only enjoyable part of this order unfortunately."

"Some of the best and most authentic Indian food I've had yet in Calgary. There was lots of meat in the curries, and the flavours were unusual and delicious. I ordered a spicy and a mild curry, and was satisfied with the spice levels, but even the mild had a good kick; it might be too spicy for someone with a low spice tolerance. I do wish there was a larger portion of rice though- a single order is only enough for one meal. I will definitely order again in future!"
"Arguably the best Indian restaurant in Calgary. The Chilli Chicken Baba Style had the best tasting spice, large proportion and rich texture. Absolutely recommend this place. "

"The Saffron rice is THE BEST I've had in a very long while. Butter Chicken was done to perfection, large pieces of chicken, tender & tasty, sauce was amazing too. If you don't like tomatoes but like the rest of the ingredients, get the kachumber. Seriously do it. I almost loathe tomatoes & I ate the entire salad. Fish Pakora also absolutely delicious, Garlic Naan mmm mmm mmmmm yum! Thank you!!!"
"Disappointed with the portion sizes lately. The flavour of the curries is still great, but the meat portions—especially in the lamb and beef curries—have become unacceptably small for the price. Getting only two to three small pieces of meat in an entire curry just isn’t worth it anymore. It’s a noticeable drop in value compared to how it used to be."

"I've been ordering from this restaurant for a long time. The quality of foods are good at affordable prices. This is probably one of the best Indian restaurants in town."
"I ordered Shahi Paneer with naan, but unfortunately the food did not taste fresh. The gravy was very thin and didn’t taste like Shahi Paneer at all. There was also very little paneer in the dish. Overall, I was disappointed with the taste and quality. I hope the restaurant improves the freshness, gravy consistency, and portion of paneer."
