"The best Jamaican spot I've been to and they only charge 10$ for a large Rasta pasta unlike every other place I've even to which is around 20. Lunchtime menu has meals from 6-8$ and the portion sizes for EVERYTHING is large and the quality is amazing. 10/10"
"Disappointed it's more bones than anything.. it's also VERY sweet.. I absolutely love brown stew chicken & it definitely has potential but the flavor is lacking. Also the rice & peas is VERY bland , plantains are very hard & there's only 2 small pieces. It looks like it's more cabbage than anything. Disappointing that this is a large. The best brown stew chicken I've ever had is from Awesome Sauce in Bpt. Won't order again"

"The oxtail is nice and tender however I do understand the price went up but to pay the medium price and get 5 oxtail was very surprising but it was still good and fresh...
The jerk chicken didn't stand a chance it was extremely tasty as well as the cabbage....
will we order from here again....Duhhhhhhhh of course we will "
"The Chicken Rasta Pasta and Plain Rasta Pasta were great but the sides are very small and over priced. They charged $7.80 for the sautéed spinach and only gave one spoonful (the size of a cooking spoon). When I called they confirmed that one spoonful is the amount that they give. It's not even a big enough portion for one person. The Steamed Cabbage with Carrots has about two spoonfuls and they charge $6.60."

"This is what Jamaican food should taste like! The Oxtail Entrée had just the right amount of spice, the portion of meat was great and tnder, and the rice was fantastic alone. The Chi Soupcken was delicious."

"Large Oxtail dinner and small order of only Jerk chicken were both really delicious. They followed all special instructions/requests accurately down to the last detail. The portion size to price ratios were decent and appropriate as it relates to the meat. For example, they didn't overfill the oxtail dinner container with the rice & peas and cabbage to take up more room resulting in less meat being added. The meat portion was what I would expect (but not always so), surprisingly adequate and what it should be. I wish I had gotten my order of Tamarind balls but everything else was on point."

"Great flavor, and the portion is perfect and all my gravy was in my container lol i will be ordering again."
"Had high expectations. Where do I start? Let's start with the Brown Stew Chicken it wasn't a traditional Jamaican brown stew chicken it actually to me tasted like barbecue chicken but I don't know if they put barbecue sauce in this in the sauce or whatever I asked for extra gravy, they complied and I definitely got extra gravy, but it was. It felt like it tasted like barbecue sauce next the beef Jamaican Patties- Mild Beef which were dry and hard in the outside, but the filling tasted good and it was you know nice no problems with the cocoa bread but then again it's cocoa bread so it's not gonna be no problems with the cocoa bread . Overall, I would give this place another try and maybe try some curry or maybe the jerk chicken or something."

"I came to pick up my food on a Friday night and they were having a festive karaoke night. I was planning to eat at home but ended up staying at the restaurant for the music and welcoming environment. The food was extremely delicious and flavorful. The spices were perfect. The fish cakes came with a sweet and tangy sauce that made dipping them addicting! The Oxtail was perfectly seasoned and tender. I also ordered the Rice & Peas and it was hands down authentic and melt in your mouth exquisite. Will be ordering from here again! "

"I loved the roast pork meal(pernil) this is my second time ordering it. I'm from Charleston South Carolina gonna be here till next month. "First time ordering from this location. I was extremely impressed by first the customer service.Thank you for calling to let me know what was out and other great sides. The 4 Pieces Whiting Meal 2 Sides and Baked Chicken was the best I have had in awhile brings you back to real homecooking! Everything was delicious and highly recommended for others to experience. Excellent dasher as well, no complaints! "
"The 8 Pieces Shrimp Meal 2 Sides had big beautiful fried shrimps, tasted delicious, but were a bit soggy rather than crispy - expected with delivery so I don't blame them for that (although if they puncture small holes in their container tops, it would lessen the soggy factor). The yams were also so good, great texture slightly firm but soft, not mush or overly sweet goo like most - would def get shrimp and yams again! The Mac and cheese I did not like, something about it tasted off. The Banana pudding was also disappointing especially considering the price. The flavor wasn't bad, but the texture is so thick and sticky, almost like a taffy. I just couldn't eat it, waste of $10. But like I said the shrimp and yams were amazing, I just wouldn't get the Mac or banana pudding ever again personally"

"Always love American Soul Kitchen. Ordered two Fried Chicken Dinners, one with Mac & Cheese and Collards and one with Mac & Cheese & Cabbage. They called to say they didn't have cabbage so we ordered two collards, which was fine. We usually get a wing, thigh and drum or breast. This time we got two wings and a thigh in one and three wings in the other. Overall great meals as usual but would love consistency on chicken pieces or option to order white meat/dark meat. "
"I was not disappointed at all. Whiting was not over breaded. Mac n cheese, collards and fish were all well seasoned. I will be ordering from this place again. Only thing I wish were different is how the food was packaged....collards spilled in the bag a bit but I was very pleased with the food nonetheless."

"I ordered the Beef Brisket Platter and Pulled Pork Pulled Pork Sandwich Combo, and y'all. My credentials: I grew up in Texas for the first two decades of my life. Let me tell you: someone who loves their mama cooked this food. Someone whose heart is in the Alamo is in this food. The brisket is moist, the pulled pork is tender, it's all hitting the seasonings perfectly. I've been on a hunt since I moved to New England to find the best barbecue that reminds me of home, and this place has taken the title with a single plate. If you want good barbecue, complete with moist brisket and enough love on your plate to heal whatever hurts you've had, this is it. I'm not the "leave reviews on Doordash" type and here I am, typing this out 'cause this touched my soul. Pig Rig? Keep doing what y'all are doing, because it is CORRECT."
"the diesel beans were good, a little sweet but good.. greens definitely had too many stalk pieces but overall it was good. our biggest complaint is the meat, very tender but no flavor or seasonings, the sauce is the flavor. The portions were nice sizes. if I order again I'll definitely get the sauce on the meat."

"We have ordered from here several times and everything we've tried has been delicious. When ordering the Tacos Gringos - the "Crispy" tacos, we always ask for the fillings to be sent separately. They always accommodate and then we can crisp up the shells, and it's never soggy. I particularly like the Chancho Burrito, the meat is very flavorful. "
"Super disappointed. I ordered a burrito, a side of rice and beans, and an elote. The burrito is huge and will definitely carry me through a second and probably even third meal, and the elote was at least buttery, soft, and comforting. Unfortunately, that’s where the excitement ended.
The rice was cooked well, but the only thing giving “authentic Latin yellow rice” was the color. No seasoning, no depth, no warmth. Just bland. The beans tasted like they were poured straight from a can with little done to elevate them. And the burrito? More of the same flavorless rice and beans wrapped around a dry, underseasoned chicken breast and rolled into a flour tortilla the size of my forearm.
At this point, I almost want to open the whole thing up and doctor it myself with salt, pepper, pico de gallo, lime, maybe even some hot sauce just to make it enjoyable. I’m honestly shocked there wasn’t even salsa or sour cream included, because it desperately needs something to bring moisture and flavor to the dish.
For the price, I genuinely feel like I could have made something far more flavorful at home for a third of the cost. If you’re looking for bold, authentic Latin flavors, this probably is not the spot. Keep looking."

"these are some of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. Chick Norris always satisfies. These fries are bigger and better than ever!! delicious!"
"It's not terrible, the flavor on my sandwich is good, but the meat taste like it was the crumbs left over from an earlier sandwich, like it was reheated not freshly cooked. The potatoes dont have any flavor & the sauce is too spicy for me & no ketchup was included. The price is to high to order again. For almost $30 for a sandwich & fries the quality is not there."

"The classic hot was surprisingly spicy, but my fav was the lemon pepper. So good! And somehow got a few extra wings, which was so nice. Very large portion of fries!! "
"The whole point and rave to try is the dip that everyone talks about. I paid for 2 regular RANCH dressings, which added to my order along with veggie sticks I added and paid for. No dressing and no carrots. Almost $60 for 10 wings, 4 tenders, and an order of fried corn is nothing to sneeze at, especially this day in age with the cost of everything. If I paid for something I expect to get it. Especially, b/c then it's just mediocre wings at best. Bomb wings in same town of Hamden much better. Lastly, I paid for express delivery service only to still wait over an hour +++ for it to arrive."

"Parmesan waffle fries were great!! so was the Mushroom Ravioli"

"Smash burgers were fantastic in crispness while not being dry, cheesesteak was perfectly melty with good quantity of meat, mozzarella sticks had good shell and cheese pull."
"the Double Cheeseburger was divine (the tomato slice was actually fresh and flavorful -- when do you get that from a fast food burger?) and so were the Loaded Fries; i loved the house sauce. great food, open late on a Sunday, wish they'd opened sooner so i could enjoy them more before i move!"

"Best place for any sandwich but their chopped cheeses are addictive😋"
"Honest review. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt because it was a big order and I don't know how busy they were. That and the good price are what is keeping this from 2 stars. Took nearly an hour to make, my poor driver was waiting there forever, only for the food to come like half of it was just sitting there. The Caesar Chicken was pretty good, all things considered. You say it comes with dressing, we didn't get any, so I literally had to buy a bottle of salad dressing separately since you either forgot to include it or lie on the site. Greek salad had the same issue but all in all it was good and well portioned. Mozzarella Sticks were miserable, came like they weren't even cooked, the cheese inside was a solid brick. Steak & Cheese Grinders and Chicken Cutlet Grinders honestly have a really good price, definitely the saving grace of this restaurant. A lot of places made them super expensive so the quantity for the price is impressive. The chicken was well seasoned, if dry, but honestly it was a very filling part of the meal, I'm usually never satisfied with just a half grinder. The Chopped Cheese Grinders on the other hand... they were okay. I found a really, rock hard piece of something in mine, I don't know what. But the sandwich in itself was fine."

"I got the mini bandeja last time, and I wanted to have the full experience this time. Worth every cent! Make sure you're very hungry (like I was) though, because the Bandeja Paisa / Paisa Tray is a rather hefty meal!"
"The Chorizo Casero con Arepa / Homemade Chorizo with Arepa turned out to be very good. Turns out the mild-tasting arepa is a great vehicle for juicy, flavorsome slices of chorizo! I will definitely order the Pandebono and Buñelo again. Everything went great with a cup of coffee for Sunday breakfast!"

"i haven't had such delicious. authentic food since i lived near NYC's chinatown. the Fish Maw Soup with Shrimp and Cold Seasoned Jelly Fish were excellent. the slightly pickled cukes in the dish were the perfect compliment. The Dasher , Briana, was great and the soup was actually piping hot."
"I decided to try the Crab Rangoon (6) because of the many conflicting reviews. In general i don't enjoy cream cheese in too many dishes. I found these to be nicely hand folded which gave them a good look and taste!
They are an appetizer , so i found the 6 pieces to be a perfect size. Just my opinion, but I'm glad i tried them for myself. "

"This is my Hickory Burger from the Wood-n-Tap restaurant, which I ordered at the peak dinner hour of exactly 6:22. I ordered my burger exactly as it is on the menu at the cook temperature of Medium Rare. I do like my burger to be quite pink so I ALWAYS order delivered red meat more rare than I would in a restaurant as the meat will keep cooking in the box & bag on the way to my house-just a tip for food ordering newbies and this goes double for steak orders.
I received my order earlier than expected by about 10 minutes about 37 minutes total time from order to delivery...and it was ABOVE AND BEYOND AMAZING. Considering the 20something degree temperature outside and a 15-20 mile trip from restaurant to my home everything arrived incredibly well.
I ordered 2 of these burgers, 1 for myself and one for my hubby. The frizzled onions were still awesomely crispy, i almostwish I added extra even though im stuffed to capacity cuz they were so awesome. Frizzled onions are something that I find even when I order and eat inside a restaurant can often be a very hard item to nail and they NAILED IT- these were fantastic. The bacon was still crisp, the fries were warm and clearly not fresh from the fryer because they'd obviously been delivered, but they definitely still had a crispness to them. As you can see in the photos (and if you've ever ordered high end takeout or just brought home leftovers before) you probably know that condensation can sometimes be an issue in travel- its the tax you pay to not have to leave your home for incredibly amazing food.
I took a few photos, this way you can see what a delivery of this burger's doneness at medium rare in delivery at my time, temperature and distance looks like, as well as the burger's size which was bigger than my entire hand- I will say my hand is a woman's hand and I wouldn't say I have a large hand at all, but I'd say the burger was pretty darn large. I apologize for having taken my photo of the entire box of food with a bite taken from it, it just smelled and looked so amazingly delicious and I was so hungry that I just had to take a giant bite.
This was my very first time ever ordering from Wood-n-Tap, but I can assure you it will not be my last. This burger was juicy, lean, seasoned amazingly and beefy- exactly what I was craving- a REAL BURGER. This is not some puny paper thin fast food mystery meat grease bomb. If thats what you're craving you know where to go to get it. But with prices these days, with a total plus tip not much more than one of those neon sign fast food joints... I'll take Wood-n-Tap over that other trash ANYDAY! If I could give 20 stars I would!"
"The Dirty Chicken Wrap was so good. I loved the tangy sauce. The portion was big and all the ingredients tasted fresh! I loved that the avocado was actually RIPE! That was the best part. I'm usually iffy about dishes with avocado but this one did not disappoint! I'm glad I ordered it! The Steak Taco was my favorite. The Shrimp Taco was good too but I preferred the savory steak. I am so full from those three things that I'll have to eat my Caesar Salad Caesar Salad Large and Spinach Artichoke Flatbread later tonight. I am hopeful they will be just as good. First time ordering so I got a few things to try and I will definitely be ordering again!"
