"Jerk Chicken (Large) is a good portion, fresh and tasty. Jerk seasoning is spicy and I appreciate that it's served in its own sauce. Although the rice is flavorful so it doesn't need sauce. One thing I really like is that they give several slices of plantain. A lot of places treat plantain as a garnish and give 2 slices max. I still order Fried Plantain as a side, bc it is a great price for the amount. Its very consistent, in terms of quality and portion. The only thing is sometimes packaging spills a little. Not enough to soak through the bag if it's handled with care, but it would be good if they wrapped the container in plastic. I've ordered multiple times now and would def order again. Highly recommend!"
"Jerk chicken was delicious. i don't know how authentic it is. The meat is tender, fall off the bone and moist. Rice and peas is seasoned and medium size was good portion. Plantains are good portion size for $4. All in all, I recommend and will come again"

"Ate it too fast to take pictures, but... the Oxtail fell off the bone just like it should, and the rice and peas were delicious. It was a massive portion of food, too. Well worth the price.
The Macaroni & cheese wasn't creamy the way I prefer it, but it was cheesy and flavorful. All around -- very good, very filling."
"10/10 for the Rasta Pasta (Shrimp & Jerk Chicken) , and the Chicken Soup. Both were extremely flavorful, chicken was juicy, and proportions were amazing. Tried this place on a whim, and would order again!"

"Food is always good Curry Goat portions and taste great and fresh.
Female workers are very respectful and polite! She even called to ask me if I'd want rice and peas because it's no more white rice . Order again and again"
"They're usually excellent with their orders. For some reason their Oxtail Beef tasted like jerk seasoning which is unusual AND on top of it I ordered a large and was literally given only tiny small oxtail with fat. No large sizes of oxtail and the value was nothing compared to the last time I ordered. Not pleased this time. I sure hope I don't have this issue in the future."

"Delicious Jamaican oxtails. My jerk chicken was packaged just right with oxtail gravy on my rice. Golden Krust on Lyons Ave. is the good one. I tried other Golden Krust and they suck in comparison to the on on Lyons Ave., they need to actually help out the other food chains. Lyons Ave. try the brown stew chicken and Escovitch fish when they have it good as well."

"The platters were sooo good and seasoned to perfection!!! Nice portons. The Stewed chicken special and the Curried Chicken Roti the flavor is on point, hands down 5 stars in regard to flavor. The only negative issue (but not so negative) I would have to say wouldbe that I would have preferred chicken pieces in the roti to not have the bones, lol. I was enjoying it so much when I went to bite down, I bit into a large bone. So had to remove the bones. Overall, hands down a must try. I will be ordering again. They were sold out of the Pound Cake but did offer me a coconut as replacement. The coconut cake is pretty good also."
"This was my first time ordering from Island Spot and to be honest I was scared. It's the fourth Caribbean restaurant I've tried and I was worried because of past experiences.
The way the carefully wapped the food was impressive. I have not seen that. The mixed steamed veggies were not soggy but crunchy and flavorful. The Medium Curried Chicken was a nice portionfor the price and very good. The rice and peas was fresh and wasn't dry or soggy, just right.
Although they delivered quicker than the estimated 30 mins, the food was a bit cold. I was also unable to choose between white rice or rice and peas, which I found odd. "

"As a Jacan, Trinis make the best roti period. Glad this restaurant came across my feed. Best roti in this side of town."
"I was so excited to see a TT cafe nearby I just had to try it.
Staring with the Doubles , the pepper had a very spiced mustardy taste, which I loved. I hate when something is just hot for nothing, it was both hot and flavorful. The barra was a little bigger than I'm used to but as a result one was enough. Very pleasant, 8/10.
The bake and Saltfish stole the show honestly. It was still so very hot when it arrived, the bake was quite fresh as well as the saltfish. Pleasantly seasoned. This is going to be my go to. 11/10 please don't ever change this!
The Buss Up was nice, standard. I loved it. Going to go great with my meal tonight.
Lastly the Aloo Pie could've been better. I would've liked to try it without the extra sauces, as the flavors overwhelmed the pie.
I wish the Currant Rolls were in stock, I crave them so bad. Next time though, as I'll surely be ordering again. Thank you to the staff!"

"I ordered fried saltfish and asked in the special instructions if I could substitute provisions and boiled dumplings for rice and beans. Someone from the restaurant called to let me know that was fine but they were a little low on saltfsh and would I be ok if they mixed it with callaloo and I said yes. Well I will be asking for that again and referring this restaurant. Food was PERFECTION. "I was under the weather, and figured Sopa de Pollo / Chicken Soup was the right move. I looked around and figured I'd try Costambar since it was close and relatively quick. I have genuinely never had a better chicken soup in my life. I don't even like yucca, and this worked incredibly well with it. Honestly, better than most sancocho I've had. it was flavorful and the consistency of sancocho, but with its own direction and a few noodles."
"Be prepared to get more starch than meat with the lunch portions...for example, I got the Chicharon de Pollo / Fried Chicken and there's more chicharon on a scarecrow than the serving...BUT it was DELICIOUS. The yuca needed a little more moisture-just a bit dry. Mangu 3 Golpe EXCELLENT. Platanos perfect-not greasy-not burned-just right, but cold. I blame the driver for that not the restaurant. He prob had it all in his trunk SMH; cold outside. Would I order again? 75% yes. "

"I'm here from a different state , whenever I go to another state. I always make it my business to taste Haitian food. Magela's your tomtom gumbo is delicious, very flavorful, 10/10 . Next time I'm in town, I will definitely buy it again. The goat meat are way too big for me and I did not get any pikliz which makes it hard for me to eat the goat because it's not spicy. The same for the pig ears. The plantain is not fried to perfection. They are big and not crispy but tasty. If you had sent me one little pikliz my taste buds would have been happier. I will definitely recommend Magela's to my friends and families. By the way I saw that the pikliz was $2+ but I thought that was for extra, I don't know any Haitian restaurant that serves food without pikliz. I will make sure to add pikliz next time. The Akra was not too flavorful but eatable."
"Been craving Haitian food for a while, and I’m so glad I found this spot in East Orange, NJ. The food is fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. "I have always liked the taste of their food better than any other Jamaican restaurant I've tried in my area:. Only issue is that most times I order, I am missing food. "The Medium Brown Stew & Sidesas delicious!!And the rice and peas wasnt dry but moist and fluffy. Definitely ordering again."
"First time trying this restaurant. I really wanted stew chicken. The chicken was tender and nice sized pieces for the price. The flavor of the chicken was ok but not wow this is really good. I the rice was ok as well, different than the regular riceand peas. The steamed cabbage was mushy, water, with huge pieces from the middle of the cabbage and no flavor at all; it tasted like nothing. Overall the meal was just ok. "

"The sandwich is huge and one of my favorite things when in the mood for a great hot sandwich. My daughter loved the nachos and they are actually a bigger portion than expected, which was wonderful I got to pick off some too lol. Over all a Great meal soo worth the price for the amount of food we both got we have tons of left overs. We always order from here and will again !"
"This will be a bit long. The PECHUGA A LA COLOMBIANA was delicious as always. The chicken is always grilled to perfection in both entrees we purchased ( PECHUGA A LA COLOMBIANA and PECHUGA A LA PLANCHA)
and we were very happy with the freshnesss. We would always reorder them! The chicken portion is so large and it would honestly make two meals! We love that we can choose the two sides and don't need to order rice that we normally don't eat at all. This helps us make sure we are getting great value for our money! We will say though that $15 for the CAMARONES AL AJILLO is a bit too much for us, as there were only 6 shrimps total. However they were delicious. The PAISITA is great value because it has a large portion and has a delicious variety of food items. The chicken empanada was amazing and I can't wait to have another! Overall we were extremely happy with our order and would recommend this place all the time! Thank you!"

"The cuban sandwich was great and had a really good flavor. The sauces that come with it put it over the top. Highly recommended. "
"Cuban Sandwich Cubano / Cuban Sandwich was not authentic does not have pickles.
They charged $3.25 for one ham Ham Croquettes which was tiny smaller than mozzarella stick. That is absurd. We ordered two of the Ropa Vieja o Carne Ripiada / Shredded Beef and the meat portion was not sufficient it was mostly rice and two different rices. Terrible never again."

"People complain a lot about pricing and quality. Super annoying! I think the price you pay for the amount and quality of food is definitely worth it! "For the price and quality, this place is unbeatable! The Chimi de Pollo /Grilled Chicken Chimi) was absolutely delicious—perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. In our Fritura de 5 Carnes/5 Meats Fritter we requested morcilla but received longaniza instead. Despite the mix-up, the longaniza was flavorful, so I assume they ran out. The wasakaka sauce was fresh, vibrant, and packed with flavor. I was so impressed with my order that I won’t be ordering from anywhere else for fritura again. Highly recommend this spot for authentic and delicious food!"

"This was a very good sized portion of very good food. I ordered the ackee and salt fish breakfast plate that also came with 2 pieces of yams, some plantains and a boiled banana and dumpling. Ackee cooked very well with great flavors. Additionally I ordered saltfish fritters. They were tasty and big enough for a meal/ snack on there own. Lastly I ordered 2 more fried dumplings. This meal will last into lunch for me as well. I plan to order again, enjoy!"

"The PLATANO MADURO was so dry and not very sweet. The CEVICHE DE PESCADO was ok. The CHAUFA DE POLLO was good, slightly salty, but I can't believe they provide one tiny half filled container of verde sauce. Spending $20 for Chaufa and getting 1 half filled sauce is a little wild. "
