"It is so difficult for me to find good, authentic Mexican food in the City so when I looked up Pozole I was very nervous. I have never ordered from this restaurant but I am so glad I took the leap of faith. Everything was beautifully balanced. They did an excellent job at perfecting the spice level and cooking the hominy. The meat I ordered with this soup was chicken and the texture was cooked with much care, I could taste the loving work that went into its preparation. To top it off they sent me the traditional garnishes (shredded cabbage, radishes, lime, and onion) which were I could tell were freshly cut by the crunchiness . I can tell whoever prepared my meal thought through the portion size and cared an awful lot about delivery. Everything was wrapped nicely and separate with enough sauces, napkins, and cutlery. "As someone from the deep south, specifically Mississippi, this food was excellent and authentic. Most places in the city add sugar to everything, but not Virgil's. The cornbread was savory the macaroni and cheese, very flavorful, and not dry. I would usually cook the collard greens a little more, but still delicious. The hush puppies were good and would recommend using ketchup instead of whatever they gave me. The barbecue sauce was not overly sweet but more savory and paired well with both the ribs and the pulled pork. "
"Love the food here, and learn something new everytime. For example; I love ribs and salad! As I await my order, I learned that I could also order the DELICIOUS Caesar salad from Carmine's.
Depending on how many slabs I purchase - don't ask; to embarrassed to tell 😂 - I separate, freeze, then bag. I can reheat the frozen ribs in a pan filled with their BBQ sauce, and cover with a lid.
Reheating this way, the BBQ sauce becomes a little more tangy, lucious, slightly different, flavor which I prefer. Also, as tender as the meat already is, it becomes even more tender. OH! MY! GOSH!
I also bag my salad and take out so much for my dinner serving, then add the dressing, and... uh oh; my mouth is watering, and I just finished breakfast 😂.
