"The Spinach Palak Gosht and Sweet Mango Lassi were good but the lassi was super thin. Also they gave me plain naan instead of rice, and the Onion Salad was just plain white onions and tomatoes."

"Excellent Chicken Biryani (although it was too spicy for me to finish). The spiciness is hardly the restaurant's fault, and I should have requested a milder level of heat. Nevertheless, the dish was obviouly well-prepared and flavorful with a good amount of boneless chicken for the price. I also enjoyed the Daal and Onion Naan . I loved that my food was still hot when it arrived! I will definitely order from Naan n' Curry again!"
"Chicken Tikka Masala tasted stale and had an unusual smell. The Plain Naan and Garlic Naan were overly thin with lots of holes and burnt, appearing as if someone inexperienced had made them. I ordered last week as well and did not enjoy the meal this time."

"I've ordered from here many times, tried a lot of dishes and everytime it is flawless! really great curry and lots of great sides. but my favorite part is they're open late! must try the Lamb Vindalo if you don't mind spiciness"
"Palak Paneer is my go to--it's the best I've found. It has so much flavor, lots of paneer and such good texture. It's my favorite comfort meal! I tried the Karahi Prawn this go round and there was so mich shrimp, good spice! They're open late so it's my favorite comfort meal after the bar meal with a good amount of leftovers for the next day!"

"Food was Good when eaten, but strange aftertaste...like ' substandard or re-used oil ' in use for frying Masala Vadas...!!!
Coconut Chutney was bland.
Tip: Udupi Palace Across have Authentic Coconut Chutney.
Rava Kesari / Cream of Wheat Pistachio Pudding was Great !!!!
Quite Authentic to my Memory"
"Benne masala Dose was so greasy - oil dripping from the dosa. Seemed like the dosa was deep fried.
Extra Vada (1Pc) was stale
I've tried Idly Express elsewhere and it was decent but clearly food chains in Berkeley have a reputation for charging higher for worse quality of food. Wouldn't order again."

"I was craving Indian food and this hit the spot. The Karaikudi Goat Keema was spiced really nicely and so flavorful. The Sambar (16 Oz) was also really good. I feel like both dishes were priced fairly for the portion sizes"
"I ordered more than I could possibly eat in one sitting! The Vada (3 pieces) were very fresh and fluffy, had to put the Samosa (3 pieces) off for tomorrow but they looked great too. The Karaikudi Goat Keema is flavorful, in the medium to hot side but wonderful complex flavors and the side sauces were wonderful accompaniment to the items, the orange one was my favorite. The masala chai was good too. Will definitely order again!"

"very small portions for the price. The Tofu Mattar (Vegan) was slightly bland and the Rice (Vegan 26oz) was a bit soggy possibly more from distance. The Aloo Tikki (Vegan) were good and the texture was very nice. The Tandoori Roti (Vegan) was good but a bit hard."

"The amount of food I got, for the price I paid? Almost feels like a steal! The food was delicious! Ive never had chicken biryani before and i loved it! A bit spicy, very flavorful and definitely filling! They had whole bone in pieces of chicken so careful when taking a bite. The garlic cheese naan was great too although I personally would have preferred touch bit more cheese. Either way I wasn't actually able to finish my food but that's ok since now I have lunch for tomorrow too! :) I will definitely be ordering from here again!! "
"I originally ordered Chicken Chowmein and it was automatically replaced with Chi Momo 10 Pcscken . They called to confirm if I wanted momo but I asked for biryani instead! The chicken biryani was yummy and even came with a full chicken leg. The tikka had a strong zesty flavor that I wasn't expecting.. still good but not what im used to. Naan was perfect to me loved the texture/flavor. Would love to try more on their menu."

"I am travelling on a short trip from India and was suggested by a colleague to must try Vik's before heading back home and you guys have not let me down.
Absolutely perfect balance of flavors and my taste buds have relished each and everything I ordered - Vegetarian Daily Special (Veg Kofta and Rajma) were awesome and it was nice to have Homely Tawa Roti Side. Mix Vegetable Pakoras were fabulous, although I fell short of the chutney and a slice of onions could have made the meal complete, however no complains and full marks from my side. Thanks for such a homely food, Kudos !!! "
"Samosa Chutney hit the spot! Huge, filled to the brim with perfectly complementary chutneys. Chicken Biryani is good with tender chunks of chicken. It's a tad richer than I'm used to but very good. Vegetarian Family Size with veggie kofta is also good: nice big kofta filled with nice chunky veggies. Roti Side was the sleeper hit!! Sooo good."

"Their ' SAMBHAR ' , South Indian Lentil Soup on the Side is EXQUISITE ' !!! It had quartered squash in there & roasted black mustard seeds !!! All the Chutneys were Gr8 as were the ' Vada ' ( Fried Lentil Donuts ). The ' Curried Potato Filling inside the Dosa / Crepe was good as well, but the Dosa / Savory Crepe could be more ' Brown ' to my liking.
All in All though their South Indian Vegetarian Cuisine is a ' Gift to Downtown Berkeley '. Quite Unique. Have dined in and had their Thaali combination Lunch Plate & Madras Coffee.
The place is a Gem & Staff are Friendly & Obliging.
Highly recommend this ' Local Small Business' post Covid - 19 for genuine South Indian Cuisine !!!!"

"Absolutely loved this place! It’s family-owned and you can taste the love and care in every bite. The food was incredibly fresh, and the flavors—just wow. The chicken came with a spicy sauce that was an absolute explosion of flavor, the kind that lingers in the best way. The naan was perfectly soft and buttery, great for scooping up all the extra sauce from the generous Chicken Tikka Masala, which was rich, creamy, and easily enough to satisfy two people. This is the kind of spot that makes you want to come back again and again. Highly recommend! Even spoke with owners daughter to share how amazing it was! Thank you! "

"Wow! We've had some pretty subpar Indian on Door Dash and this is by far the best Indian food I've had in a long time! I called to ask if they could make the Aloo Gobi extra spicy and it was perfect. The Samosa Chaat was a perfect blend of spicy and sweet and the Chicken Tikka Masala was everything you'd want it to be.
The portions were smaller than expected, but I would much rather have quality over quantity. Will happily be ordering again! "

"Both the Butter Chicken and Vegan broccoli tikka masala were delicious! This was my first time ordering from this restaurant, and I will be adding them as a favorite. Next time I'll try something new, with one of the drinks. They are a bit pricey for the portion sizes, however both dishes fed two people, with a small amount left over for around $40. "I'm not usually one to write a review for anything, really. But I have to write this to say that I've never had this much chicken put into my butter chicken from an Indian place before.
If you're someone that cares about macros and getting enough protein, you would be very happy with the amount of chicken you get in one serving. The food tasted great also, and packaging was super clean/spill free."

"38. Chicken Curry: 1 mini drumstick and one small chicken wing in a vat of spicy oil. If I had wanted mini drumsticks and wings, I would have gone to a sports bar. "Ok. So, wasn't exoecting to really enjoy the Calcutta Chicken Hakka Noodles and the Chicken 65. Flavorful, and just spicy enough to enjoy it. Chicken Tikka Masala and naan were ok-to-good. Didn't disappoint, but didn't wow either. Overall, will definitely order from here, and probably will want to try some of their lesser known dishes. The quantity was quite generous for the price and overall, nicely packaged and presented well. "
"This was the first time we have ordered from Chandi. The food was good but lacked any spice. It would be nice if you could indicate spice level. Even the Lamb Vindaloo which is called "spicy" was more of a medium spice level. We liked the Saag Panner and the Chicken Tikka but again no option to choose a spice level. The food was well packed and arrived hot. Overall the food was good, a bit pricy, but good."

Pictured were ' Carmelized Onions ' on top, but not on my order.
Otherwise Flavir was Good as was Rice.

"Amazing value for price! Chai Tea for $2.99 and Gulab Jamun for $3.99 blew me away in terms of flavor and cost. The Onion Kulcha and Chicken Tikka Masala were amazing entrees too, very flavorful. All the items came freshly hot, I even had to wait a bit for them to cool down. I'm usually picky with curry restaurants, but I am so glad I came across this one!"
"I ordered Veg tikka masala and Goat Curry.
The vegetables were well cooked, they tasted very fresh (crisp green beans, cauliflower, thinly sliced zucchini, and fine carrots). The sauce was a little bland.
The goat curry was very good, the meat was tender and the curry was flavorful.
The portions were also good. A good amount of actual meat and vegetables in the curries, and the entrees came with rice! So many places make you buy rice separately."

"Spice levels were perfect, everything was full of good flavor and seasoning, and the portions size were generous! Great service when I went to pickup. Highly recommend."
"The tiki chaat was covered in yogurt which is not advertised anywhere on their page. It's not mentioned on their website menu either. I scraped off a good chunk of these dishes because I didn't want to deal with an upset stomach from the dairy.
The entrees do not advertise they they do not include rice. Please update all of their entree categories to make this clear. I would have ordered rice if I had known I needed to.
The baingain was way too oily. I generally don't mind some excess oil from
A flavor point of view but this is too much and I ended up throwing it again
The okra and the chaat (aside from the huge pile of yogurt on top) were tasty and I will maybe order from here again if they update their page. Won't order the baingan again. "

"Everything is absolutely phenomenal, just delectable! The Butter Chicken is so savory, so succulent, shredded & marinated in big strips of so much flavor! There's no way youre not scraping your plate clean! The Garlic Chive Naan of course has a heavenly aroma, it a larger naan cut in half. The Samosa are very tastey, the potatoes are cubed inside & the order is for 3. I ended up not having any Tamarind Chutney or Raita but my mom did, who used to live in India & said it was 10/10 !"

"Best biryani in America!
I immigrated from India to US 12 years ago and have tried a lot of South Asian food across the country and haven't had a biryani this juicy, this perfectly seasoned, and this delicious in a very long time. It's the perfect flavor and texture. I have devoured it using my hands every time I've ordered it. My family is from Lucknow and I lived in Hyderabad for a while so I'm very picky about my Biryani and this has finally hit the spot."
"Wasn't the most appealing area to grab food from but they say the spots with bad locations usually are amazing, sadly it wasnt the case with this restaurant
Food was piping but still raw , lasii tastes very dry and bitter ,biryani was most likely sitting all day for them to reheat it for me , u can tell when biryani is fresh and when its reheated , staff were all nice but a lil bit of confusion when ordering all in all id give it a 3.5 / 10 "

"Really good!! The naan pieces are HUGE and everything is a great portion for the price. They don't let you select the spice level but the standard is good, not overwhelming but spicy. Samosas are really big, puffy, fried, yummy. Curry sauce is great, pretty basic but good. Highly recommend! "
"WOW! The food here is so good! We WILL be ordering again. Ever dish was favorful and cooked really nicely. For two adults we'll get 3 or 4 meals each with how we portioned our plates. "Veg. Jhol Momo (8 Pieces) , Paneer Tikka Masala, and Vegetable Korma (Contains Dairy/nuts) were very tasty. Veg. Biryani was reason I ordered from this restaurant and it did not disappoint. Has a little kick. When I order again I'd get an extra side of raita. The side that came with the rice was quite small. "
"Lamb chops were completely pink on the inside and tasted raw. I had to spit it out immediately. It was also very chewy. And portion sizes were very small given the price (about $28 but portions were worth maybe $17-18; even that may be generous).
I will not be ordering from here again."

"I recently tried the Chicken Momo lapping and Khana set at 4 Dreams Nepal I & Indian Cuisine, and it was a great experience overall.
The Chicken Momo lapping was the highlight. The momos were soft, juicy, and well stuffed with flavorful minced chicken. The “lapping” style, covered in a rich, slightly spicy sesame based sauce, added a creamy and tangy kick that made the dish stand out. The sauce was balanced not too spicy, but enough to give a nice warmth. The portion size was generous and perfect for sharing, although I could easily finish it myself because it was that good.
The Khana set felt like a complete and comforting meal. It came with rice, dal, vegetable curry, chicken curry, achar, and salad. The rice was fresh and fluffy. The dal was simple yet comforting, with a homestyle Nepali flavor. The chicken curry was tender and well cooked, with spices blended nicely without being overpowering. The achar added the perfect spicy and tangy contrast to the meal. Everything tasted fresh and authentic, just like traditional Nepali home cooking.
The service was friendly, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Overall, I would definitely recommend 4 Dreams Nepal I & Indian Cuisine for anyone craving authentic Nepali and Indian food, especially their Chicken Momo lapping and Khana set. I will definitely be going back again."
"The Dahl Tadka tasted like thickened grease fat from the bottom of the pan, like you would use to make buskits and gravy. It had no flavor other than fat and salt. I ordered two in hopes that it would be great, but couldn't eat either of them.
I have never had such an experience with any Indian Dahl dish before .
The soup was very tasty and the broth flavorful. I hoped to have it mild as I was recovering from surgery and was supposed to avoid spicy food. I'll order the soup again when I'm feeling better"

"Classic Chicken Curry was very good! Lots of chicken in there. Veg Veg Samosa was also very good! The mint chutney sauce was delicious."
"This was the blandest Indian food I've ever had and was not cheap.
I was excited when I opened the naan, as it was hot, soft, and apparently fresh, but that's where my happiness ended.
The palak paneer was super watery and slid right off the naan, and the tandoori chicken was woefully underseasoned, though I will say it was juicy and otherwise prepared well.

"I recently tried the Chicken Momo and Malai Kofta, which were delicious! The Chicken Momo was packed with flavorful, juicy chicken filling and perfectly seasoned, and the dumpling wrappers had just the right texture—soft with a light chew. The accompanying dipping sauce was a tangy delight, complementing the momos beautifully.
On the other hand, the Malai Kofta was rich and creamy, with soft, melt-in-your-mouth koftas that absorbed the aromatic gravy to perfection. The sauce was luscious, balanced with mild spices and sweetness, making every bite comforting and indulgent.
Both dishes were well-prepared and presented; the flavors left a lasting impression. I highly recommend trying these for a satisfying meal"

"Oh man, where has this been all my life? Of course you can make a roll-up in your naan with Lamb and everything on your plate. I had a Himalayas Lamb Roll (Halal) - delish. It was so big you had to decide if you were going for that or the Tikka Roll Express Samosa (2 Pieces). I split the baby and enjoyed the rest of the meal as lunch & dinner the next day. I'm gonna have to explore the rest of the menu!"
"Extremely disappointing. I added paneer to the Himalayas Lamb Roll (Halal) and there was no lamb on it. Only paneer. Even still the flavor was mid for the price. I would have been very mad if it wasn't BOGO. I paid extra for the paneer, but lamb was supposed to be included. Also the Mango Lassi was tiny af."

"Absolutely incredible flavor on the tandoori fish and the wings (5-6) that were also tandoori flavor. "
"The food was very good, especially the Lahori chickpeas and onion naan. I used to visit the now-closed Bismillah in San Pablo and read that this was the same group. It’s not exactly the same, though I preferred the naan and chickpeas here.
The lamb chops were overcooked and missing their rice. The Chicken Tikka Masala sauce was excellent. The medium spice needed more heat. but not enough to warrant ordering spicy. The San Pablo Bismallah doesn't give a choice but it was always perfect for my taste. if I go in and order that may be something I can work out. not their fault. My biggest issue was the yogurt-like coating on the meat, which changed the texture and reduced the tandoori char. I preferred the chicken at the old Bismillah.
The shop is great, with a fresh meat counter, good products, and lovely staff. I’d return, but may order different meat dishes."

"This is the best Indian food in the East Bay since 1996, was ranked #9 Indian restaurant in the US a few years ago. Lines used to wrap around the corner in the 90s & 00s until the financial depression. Forget the Americanized trendy junk full of cream and oil, this place is authentic Indian."
"The Naan is very good. The rest of the food is not worth the price.... you get a measly portion of the main along with a small portion of daal and a huge portion of plain rice and and some plain salad leaves. Rogan Josh meatballs only 2 medium sized HARD as rocks meatballs - NOT worth the price. Waste of money can't eat them. The biryani arrived with the yogurt spilled over half the biryani....it looks like the yogurt has spoiled and tasted sour. Had to eat around the rice that was doused in yogurt.
Their food is usually good the problem is mostly the packaging and maybe a bad day with the meatballs. Please improve your packaging and portion sizes."
