"This is one of the best restaurants I've ever visited, hands down. I came to visit Oakland for a work trip, and during my stay I found myself coming back to Shooting Star Cafe well over four times in a two day period. Each time I got something different, and every item was delicious, refreshing, and made me want to keep coming back. In particular I loved their lychee sago bowl with mixed fruit, and all of their drinks were exactly what I was hoping for. "
"We had several dishes that were delicious. Pork Spareribs Clay Pot Rice / 㰖角排骨煲仔飯 had great flavors with Bok Choy and bowl full of rice, too much rice. Shredded Pork Pan Fried Noodle / 肉絲煎麵arrived with pan noodles on separate container. Shredded pork could also be great as a soup dish! Combination Meat Chow Mein / 雜錦炒麵was ok nothing special and almost lacked that wholesome flavor for authentic chinese food. Fried Prawns / 炸蝦was cooked perfectly and tasted great! Popcorn Chicken / 鹽酥雞 was seasoned well! Beef Chow Fun / 乾炒牛河 was surprisingly very good with good flavors. Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings / 椒鹽雞中翼 were ok and our least favorite, very oily and arrived soggy. "

"I just drove a 45 foot Motorcoach full of teenagers allll the way down from Tacoma over the past two days. My reward was a fantastic sushi dinner. The #1. Chicken Karaage Karaage was lite & crispy goodness. The Miso Soup was small portioned plus tasted like oily salt water with leaves. "This is what the Chirashi looks like when u get it in store. I was actually very surprised when it came to me at home because I have ordered from several sushi places on DoorDash. They all skimp out on some aspect or mess up the order. I was very impressed with this order from Kansai. The piece sizes were generous and thick. The tuna was a little bit small but the salmon seemed to be a little bit larger and thicker to compensate. As a regular at Kansai, their doordashing does not dissapoint either. "

The Salmon Tataki had an unfortunate burnt flavor and would not order again. The S20. Contra Costa (8 Pieces) was a tad heavy on the mayo in the crab (not sure they used to use mayo) and probably wouldn't get it again. Love those crispies on top though!"

"I am obsessed with Asaka. I just ordered from them a few days ago and was already ready for another round. I think this is some of the best "hole in the wall" sushi spots in the East Bay. "There's no 3.5 or else, that's what I would've given it. Pros: roll size pretty big, thick cuts of sashimi and nigiri, fish taste fresh, and reasonable prices. Cons: The Miso Soup soup lacked flavor to me, it really taste like nothing. The Seared Salmon Nigiri with Lemon was missing the lemon. If you're advertising something, it should come as is. Also, the cut of salmon on my Titanic was terrible. So chewy, not good at all! The packaging could be better, they put a blob of wasabi in between the rolls that almost looked like avocado. Just be cautious."

This is the best sushi I've had in the area (Walnut Creek, Concord, Pleasant Hill, & Lafayette). I moved to CoCo county from Alameda County and have been struggling for a year trying to find great quality sushi.
This sushi (I ordered three rolls) was delicious. The sushi rice was perfectly cooked/seasoned AND had the right ratio to fish. There was no attempt to cut costs by creating giant, fat rolls that are thick with rice.
The fish was fresh, tasted delicious, and had no smell - the container only smelled like ginger. I loved it all.
