"This store was better than the St. Matthews store which is now closed but still, even this one is not up to par or nearly as good as those I remember eating growing up. In the last couple orders the buns were stale and crumbley and the burgers tasted like they'd been cooked ahead of time. "I tried the New Yorker Sandwich and the Egg Salad Sandwich. Both were decent, but neither really stood out. The flavors were a bit mild, and I was hoping for something a little more flavorful.
The chicken and dumpling soup was also okay overall. I would have liked a richer chicken flavor in the broth, and the dumplings were a little too large and thick for my taste, making them the dominant part of the soup.
I also tried two donuts, which were enjoyable and probably the highlight of my meal. However, they were on the small side for a price of over $3 each.
Overall, the food was satisfactory, but a few items could benefit from bolder flavors and better value for the price. There were some positives, particularly the donuts, but the sandwiches and soup didn’t quite exceed my expectations."
