"Incredibly delicious! The Kanom Jeen Nam Ngiaw was rich, complex and meaty. The Khao Soi Gai was bright tasting. Spicy but not overpowering. Worth noting neither came with garnishes as described in the menu. But still damned good! Mushroom fries are addictive, but probably even better eaten in house and fresh from the fryer. Gyoza are unique and a beautiful meeting of silky soft and crunchy. Good portions. We have leftover noodles for breakfast!"
"I rarely write a review, but this was on a different level. Simple outstanding. The Tonkotsu Ramen was rich and earthy, with loads of umami and a lovely combination of tastes. The Pad Kee Mao - Drunken Noodles was another highlight. Rich in basil, ginger and soy, the layers of tastes and the perfect consistency and "slipperiness" were making these noodles irresistible. Even the delivery containers were cleverly made and showed great attention to detail: the Tonkotsu Ramen had two compartments (one for the noodles, one for the egg, pork belly, and other ingredients), and a separate container for the broth. Even the Mushroom Fries were in a container "customized" with a cutout to let out the steam and keep the content crisp!"

They so far consistently follow special instructions (e.g. non-spicy), give more protein without extra charges (e.g. tofu and chicken), the sauce they use is distinct, and the price is the most competitive I have had in the area. Their Thai Ice Tea is of the smokey blend, and they hand package it with care for transport (also, again - the price is better than all other places available in the evening hours in SF) - making this restaurant even more distinct from the rest. "Pros: excellent packaging for the Thai Iced Tea, and overall. There were no spills, and even if there was, the bag was ready. The bag and Pad Thai box were clean. Presentation was as good as it could possibly be for takeout! Instructions were also followed (non-spicy).
Cons: The Pad Thai was sadly a let down. The noodles were acceptable (only a little powdery), but the chicken was like floss (tough, and flavorless; like it was not prepped or marinated at all), spring onion was also flavorless and paper-like, the sprouts tasted acceptable but oxidized (less than fresh, a bit old). The egg was acceptable, but chunky - resulting in a tougher texture and with less sauce able to coat it (the egg was probably cooked in a rush while multitasking - thrown into the wok in a rush, then left to sit and toughen).
Overall, the experience was not terrible, and it was only my first time ordering from ThongLor, and on a Saturday night about an hour from closing. Maybe it was just a bad night."
