"Such a great eatery! My family and I, have had many superb meals from them, for over 6 years. The food is always fresh, flavoursome and filling -what with the great portion sizes. The calamari is always a winner, as is the Penne Boscaiola (we add chicken to this, sometimes). I find some pizza based places to be a bit hit and miss, or simply lacking in consistency. That is definitely NOT the case, with The Charles'. The consistency, well, it is extremely consistent! The staff are always friendly, & no disrespect to the host of this review, I generally prefer to order directly from the restaurant, so they have a better chance of surviving, & keep their quality of output, high. "Reuben Sandwich is very nice. Arrived hot and moist; so filling it again took me two sittings to consume (1/2 for lunch, 1/2 for dinner). The sauerkraut is awesome! The mayo is nice and tangy, but perhaps a bit too much of a good thing. Unfortuantely the Spinach and Pumpkin Quiche was a cold disappointment. It did have plenty of yummy pumpkin in it, but... It comes as a small, round individual quiche with nil salad, almost no egg in the "quiche", and the whole quiche was room-temperature, and looked dry (but was ok with the plentiful pumpkin inside). The quiche is a bit of an "oops". The Portugese Tart ( Pastel De Nata ) was close to perfect, certainly yummy. The custard was a bit too runny! "Bar Barone makes and delivers the BEST soups. Nutritous, just like Nonna made. My fave is the Lentil Soup which comes with LOTS of delicious chopped veggies, and 2 slices of lightly grilled sourdough. The sourdough is to scoop up the veggies with! "Thats how the Dutch panc come, wish they didnt just throw ever in a box and call it a day, the cream is more of a custard and all the fruit got smashed up, the pancakes are this sensory slimy nightmare. And the hashbrown are some soggy and dry, almost like its had been sitting under a heat lamp for a day. The maple was the only thing one, and I think its cause its the only thing with a lid on it. Wish there was more care for the packaging would really saved the meal."
