I came to visit Oakland for a work trip, and during my stay I found myself coming back to Shooting Star Cafe well over four times in a two day period. Combination Meat Chow Mein / 雜錦炒麵was ok nothing special and almost lacked that wholesome flavor for authentic chinese food. Fried Prawns / 炸蝦was cooked perfectly and tasted great! Popcorn Chicken / 鹽酥雞 was seasoned well! Beef Chow Fun / 乾炒牛河 was surprisingly very good with good flavors. Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings / 椒鹽雞中翼 were ok and our least favorite, very oily and arrived soggy. "

"Rolls are very large and filling but lack flavor. Shrimp Tempura Roll (on the left in pic) was the best out of all with a solid taste for the basic roll. Lobster Tempura Roll had a decent flavor however it was stuffed mostly with lettuce! Jon's Shrimp Lover Roll was ok, each ingredient stood out and easily identified. Snow White Roll (on the right in pic) was ok, however the avocado was overpowering. Prawn Tempura Appetizer was very good but only came with 4. Lastly, Katsu Don was delicious and taste very similar to the dishes in Japan! "

I love thoughtful packaging and sushigogo went above and beyond. They included the usual combo of chopsticks, wasabi, ginger but in one pack. The bonus were the hand wipes and dish for soy sauce! The boxes themselves were very cute and I appreciate that the Salmon Sashimi (4 Pieces) came in compostable packaging. The lion king was bland with the thinnest slices of salmon. so thin it was gray in color like it was the part closest to the skin. the fried cali roll taste like mush and was also bland. the firestorm was just ok but the cream sauce was so watery and thin it was floating in the bottom of the tray and was tasteless. I also had the Asian fried chicken and it had a decent flavor but wasn't fried as hard as I like and was just a tad bit salty. miso soup was also a miss. I won't be ordering again."
