I want to acknowledge upfront that I’m not an expert in Chinese cuisine, and as a white American, I know my palate and expectations are shaped by a limited exposure to the full range of regional Chinese flavors. We’re a family that enjoys Asian cuisine and tries to approach new dishes with curiosity and respect, but this meal didn’t land well for any of us.
I will start with the positives and move on to the negatives.
👍 Positives:
• Beef noodle broth, according to my husband was quite good.
• Pork belly in the noodle bowl was tender and perfectly cooked.
• Bok choy in both noodle bowls was fresh and nicely crisp.
• My husband found the pork potstickers to be tasty.
• Side of rice was simple and well-prepared. (This actually means a lot coming from my son—he worked with a sushi chef from Japan and has an appreciation for properly prepared rice.)
👎 Negatives:
• Boba tea tasted like basic Lipton tea with pearls.
