"I love their shrimp tostadas. Very fresh, with only a thin layer of refritos, a super crunchy base, and several jumbo shrimp. They also give you plenty of lettuce, avocado, and sour cream. Their refritos and rice are great. The cheese enchiladas are good. I'm not a fan of their barbacoa. I like it leaner, but if you like more fat, you will probably like it. The only really terrible thing they have is their chile con queso. Taquerias aren't really known for their queso anyway, but the queso at this place is far worse than the gallon can Rico's used at little league games. They should stop serving this immediately. If you eat there, they give it free with your chips - that is never a good sign."

"Finally!!! Some amazing Mexican food in Houston!!! After trying half a dozen Mexican spots and they all let us down or were very inconsistent or just garbage we finally found good Mexican food. This is THE spot for Mexican food in southern Houston. Haven't tried their sister store Jimmy changas yet but Gringos is absolutely phenomenal. We tried so many dishes and not a single one was bad. Every single thing was absolutely incredible from the seafood to the tacos to the burritos and even the salsa, it was all spectacular. We will no longer waste our time or money on any other Mexican place, Gringos is our go to spot from now on. We might try Jimmy Changas just to see if it's just as good, but Gringos is the standard from now on. The rice and refried beans are incredible, whether it be the Mexican rice and refried beans or the cilantro rice both are awesome. Their chips are perfect so many places the chips are stale, or too thick, or too thin, or not salted but these were as close to perfect as a chip as we have had from a Mexican restaurant. Can't wait to try all their other dishes in the future. Highly recommended as the best overall Mexican food in the sourhern Houston. When I opened the box the aroma immediately took me back to our family BBQs, 4th of July, and Great-Uncle Johnny is the designated grill master every year until he couldn't do it anymore. "1st time ordering and 100% fantastic!! Two orders of Changitos - one Chicken Fajita, the other Beef Fajita. What you see on their website menu is exactly what you get!! Both were stuffed with plenty of fajitas and the perfect amount of melted cheese and fried perfectly, not greasy at all! And, they were not stingy on the sour cream or really fresh, chunky bright green guacamole either...a hefty scoop of each on top of shredded lettuce with diced tomatoes!! The side of Charro Beans was also fantastic...seasoned wonderfully with plenty of beans (not just liquid/broth) and had small chunks of smoked sausage, and green peppers and onions!! They included a bag of fresh chips and both the red and green salsas that were really good! We'll definitely be ordering from Luna's again (and again, as long as the quality, quantity and taste is consistent with this 1st order), as we enjoy working our way thru their menu!!"
