In my mind, a three star experience is an average experience, because we must leave room to recognize genuine excellence. Keep that in mind as you consider my 5-star rating. For the city of Maricopa, my experience was truly amazing, and I will definitely be ordering from Carniceria Sonora again. I have seen them in the app many times, but I always shied away because higher-rated restaurants have been consistently disappointing in this city. If those places have 4.5 or 4.6, why would I expect anything decent from a restaurant rated 4.3? But it was Thanksgiving, and most everything else was closed. So at lunch time, we gave it a try. I ordered a burrito with barbacoa, and it was the best burrito I have ever had delivered through Door Dash. I don't know if it was the burrito itself, their excellent orange sauce, or a combination of the two, but this tasted like the sort of food I have been sorely missing since moving to this city 3 years ago. My wife ordered a burrito with carne asada, and while she mentioned there were some gristly pieces, she has come to expect that from carne asada. She was also thoroughly impressed by her food, and that is an accomplishment. She is far more picky than I am, especially where Mexican food is concerned. I cannot speak about any of the other items, but the two we have tried thus far have both been top notch. I could probably eat that burrito every night and be satisfied with it. In fact, I'm planning to order it again tonight, just one day later. At some point, I will definitely branch out and try other items, and when I do, maybe I will find that their lower rating is deserved. If that happens, I will update. Until then, I can't help but look forward to enjoying more good food. "

Tonight, I noticed they were named one of Maricopa's top restaurants, so we finally gave them a try. I personally tried Taco Ranchero, Cabeza Taco, and Barbacoa Taco, the latter two with cheese. They were--bar none--the best tacos I have ever had in Maricopa. For the first time since moving here, I feel like I have had real, delicious, satisfying tacos. They came with three sauces. I wasn't a big fan of the red, but the two green sauces were each quite good in their own ways. Rice and beans were also very satisfying. The only thing we were disappointed with was the Pastor Quesadilla. It felt like eating a greasy, half-melted cheese block wrapped in tortilla with some meat sprinkled in. Not good, but you can't win them all."

"I've always liked their pizza; never had any complaints and have tried a few different options. Today I tried Baked Lasagna w/Garlic Bread (Serves 2). To be honest, I've never been a lasagna fan and never order at restaurants, buy pre-made, or enjoy anyone's homemade. But for some reason the picture looked so good, I had to order it. It was AMAZING!! I added mushrooms and enjoyed it thoroughly. I easily got two meals out of it. The only thing I will say on the negative side is, they advertise it as "feeds two" but then give you two tiny pieces of garlic bread, 2"x2"- I'd say more like garlic bites. So if you order for two, consider adding another side of garlic bread, or you'll be flipping a coin to see who gets them. But that's the only gripe I had."
