The chicken was absolutely delicious and I'm glad I updated to the tots. They were crunchy and fabulous. Also, the tenders have since changed from the last time I went, a long while ago. But, I love the change they made, they were super yummy. And, they were a good size too. "First time ordering and definitely won't be the last. The Lomo Saltado was tasty but more fries than meat. Portion size of the meat better suited for someone with a small appetite. The Yucas Fritas were thick cut, lightly fried and crispy. Don't think French fries, yuca is far more dense so it is dry on the inside not greasy/oily, they are great dipped in the green sauce. Not a fan of the yellow sauce it's a thick mayo like sauce with a hint of flavor. The green sauce has moderate heat from the jalapeno and the cilantro makes the flavor pop. Arroz con Cerdo WOW so good loved the flavor of the black beans better than the Cuban and Puerto Rican black beans I make. The rice is not bland, it is salted lightly. The tostones were a sweet treat, some of the pickled onions were on top of them but the savoriness was not off putting. The pork was amazing, a light fry gave it a slightly crunchy outside with a succulent moist and tender inside, excellent seasoning. 5⭐ out of 5!"

It isn't a dinner so we ordered a side of Rice & Beans which came in a small bowl together. Between the burrito and rice and beans dinner was very filling for husband. The shredded pork Enchiladas were delicious, shredded and chunks of slow cooked seasoned pork very flavorful. A little dry it only had a small amount of enchilada sauce that was used in baking no extra sauce. This is better than floating in sauce like too many places do hiding poor quality food in bland sauce. This was of homemade quality made with love. The Camaron taco was a surprise, served in 2 small corn soft tortillas grilled onions fresh cilantro no skimpy amount, enough to taste it but didn't over power the 3 medium size shrimp which were cooked to perfection. It included a wedge of lime/limon. That one taco was well worth the price. Tanqueria El Jalapeno stands out among west side Madison Mexican restaurants. With full tummies and big satisfied smiles we have a new go to favorite!"

"I really love chilis but my order had issues. My tenders weren't tossed in their honey chipotle style sauce. It wasnt even the honey chipotle sauce. It was hot souce instead. I just received plain tenders. My sauces weren't closed so I received it messy. My fajita order came with everything but not the right portions. The pick was literally 5 cubes of tomato. Ontop of that, I did t receive fries with my order. I'm not happy with this service and hope they can continue to delivergreat service. "
