The double shell, so that one could break loose above the other holding it, was perfect and a nice addition for texture, on top of how nice they were prepared. "This was a really strang experience. I got a Burrito and a Quessadilla, chips and guacamole. I was really pleasantly surprised about the quesadilla, which was not what I expected AT ALL. To start with, it was $5 for a steak one. Amazing. I expected a little tiny corn tortilla with cheese and steak. I GOT two GIANT calzone-esque deep fried pockets of meat (pork, not the steak), queso Fresca (?), and cilantro. My burrito was meant to be pork, it had steak instead. The pork was so much better. It also was huge, and covered in melted cheese. I didn't finish it. I didnt want to. Everything was fine, but just not nearly as good as I was hoping. It had a lot of meat, which I like, but it also had some pinto beans which were not prepared in a way I loved. There were tomatoes and avocado chunks and onions and cilantro. I bought Guacamole because I didnt think the burrito came with any, but there was some and so I spent $6 on guacamole I didnt really need or want. The guacamole is fine, but very veggie heavy. "I really love chilis but my order had issues. My tenders weren't tossed in their honey chipotle style sauce. It wasnt even the honey chipotle sauce. It was hot souce instead. I just received plain tenders. My sauces weren't closed so I received it messy. My fajita order came with everything but not the right portions. The pick was literally 5 cubes of tomato. Ontop of that, I did t receive fries with my order. I'm not happy with this service and hope they can continue to delivergreat service. "

The shredded pork Enchiladas were delicious, shredded and chunks of slow cooked seasoned pork very flavorful. A little dry it only had a small amount of enchilada sauce that was used in baking no extra sauce. This is better than floating in sauce like too many places do hiding poor quality food in bland sauce. This was of homemade quality made with love. The Camaron taco was a surprise, served in 2 small corn soft tortillas grilled onions fresh cilantro no skimpy amount, enough to taste it but didn't over power the 3 medium size shrimp which were cooked to perfection. It included a wedge of lime/limon. That one taco was well worth the price. Tanqueria El Jalapeno stands out among west side Madison Mexican restaurants. With full tummies and big satisfied smiles we have a new go to favorite!"
