"Today's meal wasn't up to their regular standards. But, as far as I'm concerned, it's a one-off issue. The 43. Tamal Mexicano plate offers tamal, chili relleno and an enchilada like piece. The tortilla seemed as though it saw a little too much time in the connection oven. It was crispy in places. The chili relleno has part of the cooked batter stuck to the lid which ripped immediately as I opened it. Regardless, the taste was still superior to other restaurants who lean far more Americanized than traditional Mexican. The 50. Enchiladas Dinner has rice and beans, something the tamal plate sadly lacks. While the tamal plate is my go to, the enchiladas are my secondary choice. I like this place and will keep going back."

"I was raised in San Diego County and really appreciate good Mexican food. My Tamal Mexicano lunch was just that: good! It was flavorful, fresh and filling. I'm also a firm believer that the masa on the tamal should be substantial. I don't want a thin layer covering the meat. I want masa, dang it. I was NOT let down. The rest of the meal was equally good. I've never had a problem with their food and always choose to go back and order again.
