This month, I’ve been making an effort to support small businesses because I’ve been disappointed by the customer service at so many large corporations. Tonight was my first order, and it was for my sister, who is pregnant with triplets.
I don’t expect perfection, and they happened to be out of macaroni and cheese (which honestly tells me the food must be amazing because it sold out!). Summer, one of the employees, contacted me right away to let me know they had just served the last of it. She even offered to make an entirely new pan if I wanted some, explaining it would only be about a 30-minute wait. Keep in mind, they only had about an hour left before closing! That level of customer service was incredibly thoughtful and truly went above and beyond.
I don’t like inconveniencing people, and neither does my sister, so Summer also gave us several alternatives to choose from. Realistically, restaurants run out of popular items, and that’s completely understandable. We decided on collard greens instead.
I mentioned that the meal was for my sister, who is pregnant with triplets and due any day now. Since she hasn’t gone into labor yet, her doctors are still allowing her to eat. As a sweet surprise, they included an extra side of candied yams. When I arrived to pick up the order, everyone was just as kind. They congratulated us on the three new additions who will soon be joining our family, and they genuinely shared in our excitement.
This is exactly what I love about small businesses and what I sometimes miss at fast-food and chain restaurants. It’s the personal connection. The people cared. They related to us. I didn’t feel like I was just another transaction—I felt like a valued customer and, more importantly, a human being.
They have absolutely earned my business, as well as my family’s. I will be leaving positive reviews everywhere I can and recommending them to everyone I know.

"I tried the mix over rice. Everything was packaged well. I was super excited to try this dish. Unfortunately it was very bland had zero flavor. I'm used to a Mediterranean cuisine style and THIS IS THE FURTHEST THING from it. I tried every sauce they sent to enhance the flavor and I still couldn't eat it. An absolute waste of my money and nothing to eat for lunch 😒. I will not try anything else from this restaurant. Pic on the left is before I ate. "The chicken was fantastic! Although they did not give us the leg with our Dark Meat kids meal(2 Pieces) and put in 2 thighs.
