"I'll start my review with a confession, I am very biased when it comes to bbq. I've opened a successful restaurant in STL, I've competed in BBQ competitions, and several of my friends and family members are award winning pitmasters. That said, Lucille's Smokehouse is up there for delicious BBQ! The brisket is comparable to Texas, thick just smoked slices of tender brisket trimmed to perfection; not too fatty not too lean. Tri-tip is not often found in STL, and seldom is it cooked right. Lucille's on the other hand knows tri-tip and man, is it good! Peppery, tender, meaty, and again a good dose of smoke, without being overpowering. The beans were good, tasty and well cooked. However, for me, they were not my favorite, a touch bland and missing the twang of mustard I like. Take my opinion lightly because they're still better than most. The Mac n Cheese was a hit! Cheesy, creamy, and unctuous sauce folded to with tender noodles, made up for the oft times dry competition. The biscuits were flaky and crunchy, the tops sparkling with course crystals of sugar. The "apple butter" was at first unfamiliar to me. In the midwest apple butter is akin to well-cooked apple sauce spiced with nutmeg and cinnamon. Lucille's was a pleasant surprise of whipped butter and apples. Last, but certainly first in my book was the OLD-FASHIONED BANANA PUDDING thick custard, sweet whipped cream, crunchy nilla wafers, and sweet ripe bananas made for a perfect end to an already delicious meal.
Big ups for Lucille's I look for to ordering a meal from you again! "
