"This is not the signature Maki Yaki I remember. Recently moved back to Whittier and Maki Yaki was one of our favorite restaurants. We couldn't wait to have it! That craving we were looking for in our regular order was not what we expected from one of our favorite spots in Whittier. It was really flavorless, bland and the price does not reflect the amount of food we got. Maki Yaki always had a distinguished taste, but today I certainly did not get that with my meal. Disappointed is an understatement. They might have changed management, owners or were directed to use less flavor, either way this isn't Maki Yaki and I will not pay top price for something I can get at Yoshinoya for far less."

I remember their rolls also being delicious so I decided to order the crunch dragon roll and the miso soup for a nice lunch. The roll was delicious, packed with the ingredients, huge chunks of unagi and avocado on top. Definitely worth your buck. The miso soup was the best I've ever had! So rich in flavor and still hot when arrived even after eating most of my roll first; it was also a pretty large portion. Came with condiments as well on the side. Chopsticks were great quality too for takeout. The only thing I would prefer differently is the temperature of my roll. I would prefer for it to be cold, but considering ordering it to go and having it delivered, you can't always it expect to be how it is when served in the restaurant. 5/5, would order again! "

The pieces of Salmon were falling apart you could tell they weren't cut well, the Baked Salmon Roll had small pieces of salmon and way too much rice, the Spicy Tuna Bowl is literally just a bowl with a bit of spicy tuna, and a mixture of 80% cabbage and 20% rice with yellow avocados. Even the Garden Salad was a joke, it's all iceberg lettuce with a piece of tomato and a piece of cucumber. The only decent thing was the Shrimp Tempura but how hard is it to just fry something. I paid $75 for this food and am extremely disappointed "
