When I noticed Far East offered them, I was thrilled — and let me say, they did not disappoint!
These are, without a doubt, the best cream cheese wontons I have ever had. They are much larger than others I’ve tried in the past and fried to perfection — wonderfully crispy and crunchy on the outside while creamy inside. I personally love dipping them in sweet and sour sauce, and Far East makes a truly delicious version. They are generous, too — each order comes with 12 big wontons, which is almost unheard of at this price point. Other places usually give you 7 or 8 for the same price, and they’re often much smaller.
I usually order a couple of portions and make them my meal because I enjoy them so much. Plus, Far East is kind enough to include sweet and sour sauce with the order, which makes the whole experience even better. The combination is perfect, and I can honestly say I’ve never enjoyed wontons this much.
Beyond the wontons, I’ve tried several other dishes and they have all been excellent. The C17. Sesame Chicken and Pork Lo Mein combo was fantastic — the chicken was tender, the sauce was delicious, and the portions were huge. The pork lo mein was cooked just right, and I even added some sweet and sour sauce to it (which I now love to put on almost everything). I also tried the vegetable spring roll, which was crispy and tasty, and of course, great with the sweet and sour sauce as well. I also ordered Fried or Steamed Dumplings (6) (Fried) dumplim and they were just as amazing
Overall, the food here is amazing and the portions are very generous. The combo meals come with so much food that I was able to enjoy leftovers for both lunch and dinner the next day.
As someone who is fairly new to the area and hesitant to try new Chinese restaurants (after years of sticking with the same one back home), I can confidently say I made the right choice picking Far East. The food is reminiscent of the Chinese dishes I used to love, and I’m excited to try even more from their menu. I’m so grateful to have found a local spot I truly enjoy.

"first time i ordered here, shrimp egg roll was great, i asked for no sesame seed and they made sure there was none so the merchant was great. only reason i give it three stars is because the vegetable fried rice tasted like dish soap, completely inedible. not worth the $16 really. don't see myself ordering here again but otherwise pretty good chicken and egg rolls "

"The beef on a stick was tender and very tasty. The wonton soup was good but nothing special. The house special chow mai fun was flavorful but had hardly any meat at all in it, just little bits and you had to dig for them, so it was basically just a bowl of rice noodles. It did have 2 small shrimp in it though."

"The "boneless chicken" was a soggy "fried" chicken that was amazingly dry and tasteless along with unexpected onions (which I hate). The breading (at least I think that's what it was) as awful. The dumplings were very oily. The LoMein was acceptable. The spring rolls were tasteless. So disappointed as we used to order from Empire Ginger all of the time."

"I always used to order from Great Wall when I lived in Sound Beach and the food was excellent. Something has happened since I moved because the Happy Family I had delivered yesterday was almost inedible. I asked that no crab be included and instead it was overloaded with the fake crab with almost none of the usual scallops, shrimp. chicken or pork. To add to my disappointment, the prices now are almost three times what I paid in the past. I'm going to have to find a new Chinese restaurant closer to my new home because I will never order from Great Wall again. So sad! "
