"This place almost never disappoints! Food is alwus fresh very flavorful and always hot. 1 of the best Chinese places in Monmouth County "
"**Review of Boneless Spare Ribs** Recently, I had the opportunity to try the boneless spare ribs at China Express, and while the dish had promise, it ultimately fell short of my expectations. Upon arrival, the presentation was appealing, with the ribs glistening under a savory glaze that hinted at a rich flavor profile. However, as I took my first bite, I noticed that the meat was a bit drier than I prefer. While I appreciate the effort to achieve tenderness, the lack of moisture detracted from the overall experience. The seasoning was well-balanced, offering a pleasant sweetness that complemented the savory elements. The texture, though slightly dry, was still enjoyable, with a satisfying chew. I found myself wishing for a sauce or accompaniment that could enhance the moisture and elevate the dish further—perhaps a tangy barbecue or a rich, flavorful glaze. In terms of portion size, the serving was generous, making it a good value for those looking to indulge in a hearty meal. Additionally, the side dishes provided were flavorful and complemented the ribs nicely, adding variety to the plate. Overall, while the boneless spare ribs at China Express showed potential with their flavor and presentation, the dryness was a notable drawback. I would recommend the dish with a caveat, encouraging the kitchen to consider tweaking the cooking method or enhancing the sauce to achieve a more succulent result. I look forward to returning to see if there have been improvements in the preparation of this dish. **Review of Wonton Soup and General Tso’s Chicken** Now..I had the pleasure of sampling both the wonton soup and General Tso’s chicken, and I must say, both dishes left a positive impression. **Wonton Soup:** The wonton soup was a delightful start to my meal. The broth was rich and flavorful, perfectly seasoned with a hint of umami that set the tone for the dish. The wontons themselves were expertly crafted, boasting a delicate wrapper that held a generous filling of pork and shrimp. Each bite was tender and juicy, providing a satisfying contrast to the warm, comforting broth. The addition of fresh scallions and bok choy added a nice touch, contributing both flavor and texture. Overall, this was a standout dish that exemplified the comforting qualities of traditional wonton soup. **General Tso’s Chicken:** Moving on to the General Tso’s chicken, I was equally impressed. The chicken was crispy on the outside (could have been more in my opinion) while remaining tender and succulent on the inside, showcasing skillful frying techniques. The sauce was a perfect balance of sweet and spicy, with a delightful depth of flavor that enhanced the dish without overwhelming it. The generous coating of sauce enveloped the chicken, and the accompanying vegetables added a refreshing crunch. The portion size was ample, making it a satisfying entrée that paired well with steamed rice. Both dishes reflected a commitment to quality and flavor, showcasing the restaurant’s ability to deliver classic Chinese cuisine with finesse. The wonton soup offered a comforting start, while the General Tso’s chicken provided a satisfying and flavorful main course. In conclusion, China Express successfully delivered a delightful dining experience with these two dishes. I highly recommend them to anyone seeking authentic flavors and comforting comfort food. I look forward to returning and exploring more of their menu offerings. Thank you for the suggestions. "

"The chef took over the restaurant and the food is still outstanding! I'm obsessed with the chicken and shrimp with gf noodles and veggies! Comes piping hot too !"
"I’m just not really sure what gourmet about this place. I find the food to be mediocre at best, and the prices are absolutely astronomical for what you were given. People rave about the chicken lettuce wraps, and I agree that it was the best thing that I received. But it’s basically just moo shu chicken with a bunch of iceberg lettuce on the side (and the lettuce is not even cleaned well; I had to rinse them in the sink to get dirt off). I also got BBQ spare ribs which had very little meat on them. It was not worth the money and very hard to gnaw the measly portion off the bones. I ordered shrimp lo mein thinking that the shrimp would be of higher quality than the typical Chinese takeout place, but the shrimp were extremely overcooked and too tough to chew, so I ended up not eating the shrimp. On top of that, there wasn’t a vegetable in sight. I’m used to seeing green onions, mushrooms, and the occasional piece of broccoli or carrot in lo mein, and this was just noodles with impossible to eat shrimp. The last thing I got was chicken with broccoli which was mediocre at best. The pieces of chicken were admittedly gigantic (3+ bites per piece) and pounded so thin that they were extremely dry, but the brown sauce was good, and that is something that I find is lacking elsewhere. But, for these 4 things, I spent over $100. I really find that to be unconscionable, even in today’s inflated economy. This was the last of 3 chances that I’ve given to this restaurant, both in person and via delivery. I think I’ll stick with the more mediocre Chinese food options that we have in Monmouth county. At least they don’t PRETEND to be “gourmet”."

"I have been going here since I was a little kid my mother would always order Chinese food from here. The owners are hard working and great worker. Great food ill always trust these guys "
"Please note that this is the second time I’ve tried to leave a review, the first one that I tried to leave what disappears. So, hopefully you get a chance to read this, and I’m just being honest about my experience with mostly inedible food. I found this food to be mediocre at best, and honestly it was mostly inedible. -The teriyaki beef on a stick was extremely dry and tough, kind of like shoe leather. -The boneless spare ribs were also very dry and tough. Unless there was a very thick cut piece, it just soaked up all of the moisture in my mouth and made me feel like I was chewing on something that wasn’t actually food. It’s a shame, because the sauce was sweet, and I think if the ribs hadn’t been extremely overcooked, it could’ve been a good dish. -I also was disappointed to find out that the mixed vegetable chow mein was literally just a bowl of steamed and unseasoned flavorless mixed vegetables. I’m used to chow mein coming with noodles (that’s literally the definition of chow mein = fried noodles). There were no noodles. -I got a side of vegetable fried rice, and the rice was so overcooked, it kind of turned into one smashed Chinese-food-takeout-container-shaped piece of rice. There was no differentiating the individual grains of rice anymore. And it was just yellow in color, there was absolutely no flavor at all. -The worst part was the chicken and Chinese vegetables. Some of the chicken was covered in a goopy gelatinous brown sauce, but most of the chicken was covered in a straight up oil slick. The chicken was cooked fine, and it was the only meat that I received that wasn’t extremely dry, but I found the sauce to be so oily and have no flavor that it was inedible. Do yourself a favor, and order from a Chinese restaurant that knows what they’re doing. This isn’t it. "
