Being a cook myself and originally from Chicago by way of the South, I’ve had the chance to taste soul food from many places during my travels. The sweet potatoes are a standout for me (yams are my favorite dish to eat and cook). Their sauce has a unique sweetness with what I think is a hint of orange—it’s sweet but not overly so. The caramel cake is another highlight. The caramel tastes homemade, the cake is incredibly moist, and the flavors blend together beautifully. One thing I’ve appreciated every time I’ve ordered through DoorDash is that the food always arrives hot, as if it came straight out of the kitchen and right to my door. I’m thrilled to see this restaurant in the community because Minnesota has long needed more great soul food options.
