"Ok so we were pleasantly surprised by Angelo's after having so many bad Italian restaurants here on the coastal side of Houston, they are all over the place here but most of them are not good at all. Italian is another area where Houston needs help in, you have to really search to find that needle in the haystack out here for Italian food, and you will get fooled by most reviews because the people down here don't really know what good Italian is so they rate high because they have nothing to compare it too. Angelo's was actually pretty good, a solid 7.5/10 which is good compared to the 5-6/10 for most Italian in H-town. So the pizza was actually pretty decent, we got a plain cheese with extra sauce and an eggplant and ricotta and they were were pretty good. A bit cheap with the ricotta dollops but otherwise good. The pastas were just okay tbh nothing special we tried a bunch of them and they were just ok nothing we would seek out or try again. The fried calamari was great surprisingly, most places make a terrible calamari but this one was done right, not over cooked and light crispy batter with marinara proper not with ranch like some of these disrespectful places serve down here lol. The ceasar was decent too, and the tiramisu is probably one of the best tiramisu's in Houston. We got a side of meatballs not expecting much but they were also surprisingly good as well. Chicken parm sub was underwhelming though, cutlet was way too thick and only covered the center of the sub with both ends of bread being empty, they should slice the meat thinner and pound it out a bit flatter and put two cutlets on there proper like. However most of Houston makes terrible chicken parm subs, even places they rave about out here got nothing on the proper chicken parmigiana subs from Jersey/NY/Philly. Not sure why because it's actually one of the easier Italian things to make but most miss the mark out here. So overall not bad for Houston Italian, we would recommend them for some simple pizza, calamari, meatballs, and some tiramisu but skip the pastas and subs."

The peppers and onions were sweet, although I would have preferred more, as they were rather sparse. Bread was fresh, and had I picked it up myself at the store, it would have been hot and melty. (I had it delivered.) The sandwich also stood up to being gently microwaved. My only complaint is that it was a little on the pricey side, although a fair amount of the total was delivery fees. It was a Saturday at 7-8 pm prime time for a busy dinner crowd. They even told me my order would be a little delayed. I understood. This was the 1st time ordering from them. "It is our first time to eat here. The food arrived hot. The Boudin Balls were crispy and tasty. The Turkey Leg was delicious. The turkey was so tender and juicy, the crawfish ettouffee was a great topping over the dirty rice. It is huge! Enough to feed 2-3 people. The Chicken and Sausage Gumbo had a great flavor. I dont like okra so it had too much okra for me so i would not order this again but the flavor was fabulous. We will definitely order from here again. "

"Ordered the Poboy Combo lunch special, had the catfish with chicken and sausage gumbo. The poboy was really good, the catfish though was very thin, had more batter than fish. The gumbo was good, thin slices of sausage and little bits of chicken. Would have liked it more chunks of meat. Overall flavor was good for both and portion was okay for lunch."
