"As a sushi chef myself I can confidently say that Tokai is in my top 3 spots for sushi in SCV. The quality of the fish is very good. I appreciated the fact that they actually marinated the Ikura (salmon roe). Many sushi restaurants skip this step so you just end up eating salty salmon eggs. My only complaint is I think the marination proved to be a little too much on the sweet side. Other than that my meal was fantastic. I ordered the BAKED GREEN MUSSELS which are probably the best tasting ones in SCV. The red SURF CLAM SUSHI (1PC) which isn't for everyone but has always been one of my favorites. SEARED SALMON SUSHI (1PC) which was delicious. MONKFISH LIVER SUSHI (1PC) another one of those things that people don't normally order but it was also delicious and finally the SALMON ROE SUSHI (1PC). That was very nice and a great idea. The 67. Buffalo Wings were decent. Great flavor with the sauce but the wings themselves need salt and pepper at least. I did think these were overpriced for the value of the chicken especially when you can get mind blowing chicken at bb.q chicken for the same price but larger wings. Also, the 49. Thai Fried Rice was great! No complaints there. The biggest disappointment (for me) was the 65c. Orange Chicken and the 9t. Fried Tofu. Where is the flavor guys? The orange chicken was crispy like a meatball covered in breadcrumbs. Very weird. Orange chicken is usually lightly crispy but overall soft. Again, no seasonings. The tofu actually had GREAT crisp (a vegan confirmed) but it was bland as well. No seasonings, soy sauce or garlic. Come on guys. These individual dishes were too expensive to be this bland. They ended up not getting eaten. My order overall was over $100 for 67. Buffalo Wings , 6. EGG ROLLS (also good) , 49. Thai Fried Rice and 65c. Orange Chicken with a side of fried rice. Can't say that I would order again or even recommend."
