"As a sushi chef myself I can confidently say that Tokai is in my top 3 spots for sushi in SCV. The quality of the fish is very good. I appreciated the fact that they actually marinated the Ikura (salmon roe). Many sushi restaurants skip this step so you just end up eating salty salmon eggs. My only complaint is I think the marination proved to be a little too much on the sweet side. Other than that my meal was fantastic. I ordered the BAKED GREEN MUSSELS which are probably the best tasting ones in SCV. The red SURF CLAM SUSHI (1PC) which isn't for everyone but has always been one of my favorites. SEARED SALMON SUSHI (1PC) which was delicious. MONKFISH LIVER SUSHI (1PC) another one of those things that people don't normally order but it was also delicious and finally the SALMON ROE SUSHI (1PC). Already said what I didn't like about it but it was still good. "

"Spicy Tuna Roll and 1. Japanese Miso Soup are my go to, but the 6. Hawaiian Roll tasted really fresh with the tuna on top and green onions. The Avocado Roll was placed in the same takeout container as the 8. Monkey Brain so it ended up being too warm and mushy. The Philadelphia Roll has cream cheese which is sometimes warm but other times stays cold, depending on which other rolls are placed together in the takeout container. "

"I hadn't recalled if I ordered from here before from another online/mobile app ordering platform. Once I received my order I realized I did. The same packaging gave it away. I ordered mainly nigiri (regular sushi) and the portions they provide for the fish is much smaller than other places. The quality of the fish itself is decent, but the portion size is off-putting. What compounds this is the dry and hard rice. Ordering from here is the equivalent of grocery store sushi. Was completely bummed. The eel roll seems like it was made earlier in the day and refrigerated. The rice was drier and harder than the ngiri and the eel lacked it's typical moistness. I will not be ordering from here again."
