Really disappointing portions, especially given the prices. Six small pieces of chicken cost almost $21, while another dish with five pieces of chicken plus an entire beef koobideh was $24. How does that pricing make sense?
The ghormeh sabzi was around $20 and also had very little meat. Across the meal, it felt like they were noticeably stingy with the protein while charging premium prices.
What made it especially disappointing is the name Maman Joon. A “Maman Joon” should evoke warmth, generosity, and Persian hospitality — the kind of meal where you’re worried you’ve been given too much food, not counting the pieces of meat on your plate."

"We ordered the lamb shank and the chenjej kabob with salads. The typical salad was great but the Shirazi salad was just chopped tomatoes and cucumber with no seasoning, no olive oil. The lamb shank was very small and mostly fat, again no seasoning. Sadly, the Chenjeh kabob was so overcooked and dry with no seasoning, I don't think even salt. It came in a big container with 8 small scattered pieces of meat- looked a bit sad. We had eaten at Alborz in probably 2013 and enjoyed it, not so much now. We are fans of Persian food. The chickpeas are not your typical Indian curry its more of an oily base and thick seasoning taste very good on top of the rice. The Chicken is good, but you are getting the bold flavors from adding the chickpeas I added the white sauce only.
Comes with a "side salad" I tosed that on top with the rice and the onion did what they were supposedto do!
