A bright, clean, crisp kolsch-style ale, brewed at lager temperatures. Perfect for a beautiful Oakland afternoon. 4.5% ABV.
AIBC’s take on a traditional Bavarian Hefeweizen. Wheat and German Pilsner malt start it out while the special house yeast strain gives it banana and clove esters. Its smoothness and effervescence make this the perfect beer for warm weather. 4.5% ABV.
A well-balanced, full-flavored amber ale. It has a rich, malty body with a pleasant caramel character from specialty Aromatic and Melonoidin malts. A complex hop aroma, with hints of floral and citrus from a combination of Summit, Cascade and Chinook hops. 5% ABV.
Citra is the most well received in our series of Single Hop beers. After taking Gold in 2011 and 2012 at the California Craft Brew Competition, and due to its high demand with our consumers, we decided to make this a year-round style. This IPA pours a dark amber in color with an off-white head. The hop aroma is floral, with citrus notes, while the malts have a toasted barley character with some caramel. Citra‘s hop flavor is resiny, with some citrus quality that is offset by toasty malt flavors with a touch of caramel. This is a moderately full bodied beer, with a bright carbonation, and a dry finish. 7% ABV.
Dark amber in color with good clarity, and an off-white head. Aromas of molasses, raisins, and dates. Complex flavors of sweet fruit like raisins, dates, and notes of caramel accentuate the palate. Medium body with a slightly lingering, semi-sweet finish. 9.5% ABV.
Made in collaboration with Not For Sale’s coffee company, Dignità, Calf-eine is a Coffee Milk Stout brewed with medium roast, cold brewed coffee. This beer has a rich and creamy texture from the addition of lactose, balanced by a roasty aroma and subtle bitterness from the coffee. 6.5% ABV.
The base of this "flower beer" is a saison-style brew made with rose petals, star jasmine, hibiscus and spiced with cardamom. These spices complement the traditional weizen yeast profile of clove. Rose water was also incorporated in the batch to provide a subtle rose-like aroma. The overall flavor is a combination that develops with a slightly sweet and soft malt palate, intertwining floral notes, and finishes with a balanced bitterness from mild hallertauer hops, clove and cardamom. 4.8% ABV.
Moylan’s Brewmaster Derek Smith had this to say about this Belgian Pale Ale, “It's my current "go to" at the pub. It's kind of like Orval without the Brettanomyces flavor.” 5% ABV.
Stella Blue is an American Sour Ale aged for one year in wine barrels with local blueberries, strawberries and rhubarb. Stella Blue was the first place Gold Medal winner at the 2015 California State Fair commercial craft beer competition. The delicate flavors of the springtime fruit are enhanced by the crisp tartness of the beers finish. *Note* This is a 500ml bottle, NOT a growler. 6% ABV.
Fermented with 400lbs of Satsuma Mandarin, this dry “cider-mosa” will have you saying, “Yes please!” With warm butterscotch aromas followed with a sharp citrusy bite, this cider goes down way too easily. The citrus really shines through initially and a tart finish on the back of the palate. A great alternative to actual mimosas and makes a mean mixer to create an actual cider-mosa. 6.9% ABV.
Hop Riot IPA is our flagship beer. Brewed in the American IPA style with a definitive “Left Coast” attitude. We brew our IPA with an aggressive bittering level which is complimented and balanced by a defined malt backbone. Our final signature is the dry hop step where fresh hops are immersed in the finished beer to provide the floral and citrus aromas of our IPA 7.3% ABV.
This is an almost one-dimensional hop monster that still sees Maris Otter put up a good fight in an attempt for malt balance. But it’s really all about the hops, both bittering hops and aroma hops. Familiar American hop character dominates at every level. Promised Land is a very difficult beer to pair with food, but it can be done (with assertive flavors). Don’t be fooled by its light color, this beer will dominate all other beers, so if tasting, taste this guy last. Imperial IPAs have carved out a cult following in the American craft beer culture. “Hopheads” clamor for more hops, more assertive, all around bigger IPAs all the time. A decade ago, Magnolia introduced their single IPA, Proving Ground, when the hop trend was just beginning, hence its name. It was a test of how much hop character a palate can tolerate. Since then, IPAs have only gotten bigger and Promised Land seemed to Dave like a good name for a beer with the absolute maximum amount of hops he could ever imagine using. For the hophead, this is the promised land...it just doesn’t get any hoppier. And, it’s a Chuck Berry song covered regularly by the Grateful Dead. 10.5% ABV.
Formally defined as the depths in water beyond which less than one percent of sunlight penetrates. Aphotic is a beer with a very dark side. Just one sip and you will understand the true depths of its darkness as the deep, luxurious layers of malt rich-ness tantalize and tease your taste buds. 9.2% ABV.
Brewed continuously since 1989, Bison’s Chocolate Stout is The Original Chocolate Stout. Our Chocolate Stout is characterized by a boost of Peruvian cocoa added in the mash. Like Barry White’s voice in a bottle, Bison’s Chocolate Stout is a dark, slow-pouring aphrodisiac of the smoothest proportions. Rich and roasty with charismatic Ilavors of dark chocolate and espresso, and creamy, dry finish. 5% ABV.
