This modern, neighborhood steakhouse is serving unexpected cuts and reimagined steakhouse fare in NYC’s West Village and Upper East Side. While other local chophouses offer the same ribeyes, New York strips, and gargantuan porterhouses, Quality Eats serves cuts that are just as delicious and more affordable, like the 10-ounce hanger and highly flavorful bavette. The Don Ameche — a sliced filet plated over caramelized onions and toast smeared with chicken liver mousse — has been the restaurant’s signature steak since it opened in 2015. Like any good steakhouse, the appetizers and sides are just as important as the main event. Don’t miss the grilled bacon appetizer, which consists of thick-sliced Nueske’s bacon served with lime-green jalapeño jelly, a dollop of miso peanut butter, and minced Granny Smith apple. When it comes to sides, the offerings are unexpected gems. Potatoes appear in the form of either cayenne-dusted brown-bag curly fries or pull-apart baked potato monkey bread served with bacon butter. There’s also a sweet-and-savory corn crème brûlée served in lieu of traditional creamed corn. And even if steak isn’t your preference, Quality Eats has you covered. Their triple-decker patty melt club comes piled high with housemade spicy coleslaw, the branzino frites are deadly (in a good way), and the lemon-charred chicken will please even the pickiest eaters.
