"I probably would have given 5 stars if it hadn't take them 1.5hrs to prepare my 3 orders of Toro (Fatty Bluefin Tuna) and Edamame.
Granted, it was Valentines Day, and I understand being busy, but if it too busy to fullfil an order, please turn off online orders. Im a widow so no, I did not have dinner plans after work but wanted to have sushi because it's something my late husband and I shared a love of. The Toro (Fatty Bluefin Tuna) was so good and the prices here are not outrageous like some places. I do plan on going in person to this restaurant to try more items. I think I will order from them for all my sushi take out from now on. On future orders I may adjust to 5Stars. If you haven't tried them yet, please do, so far the quality and price is great!

"Kamikaze Roll and Tuna Tuna (Red Sea) Roll were sad looking, small, and didn't look like the photos on the website at all. the Miso Soup had gone stale and was not edible, so we just tossed it. Shishito Peppers were good. Salmon Roll surprising was the best pick (and most inexpensive). Would not order again based on this experience, Ralphs sushi probably would have been better (didnt feel like $75 of sushi)."

Got the sirloin and ribs combo with a minuscule amount of salad - (who skimps on lettuce?) and a tiny baked potato. They put sour cream, butter and chives all together stuffed in a 3 oz container!
The steak was horrible, worst in my life that I've ever had. Cooking was correct - a medium, not overdone. I cannot blame the chefs and other staff members...However, this establishment skimps on portions plus quality of goods. I have a feeling their managers instructed them to skimp on everything too. They had the cheapest cut in the world. Please save yourself the regret.
I spent $95 on a $60 order after fees, etc. I was spending almost a hundred bucks on food WORSE THAN OUTBACK! listen to me or you'll regret your decision.

Absolutely delicious! The Mole sauces are so different, but all very good. The Chilie Relleno and Carne Asada taco were also incredible, but becarful with those two as they are spicy. I love spicy, so they were great for me.
The desserts were out of this world! I've never had chocolate Tres Leches, but pretty sure I can not love without it now.
Even the side of chips and salsa were excellent!

I paid extra for avocado and it was essentially a spoonful of 5 small chunks, around the same size of the salmon chunks. the disappointment is immeasurable. the rest of the toppings were sparse as well, considering I only asked for onions, corn, mango, and seaweed, I couldn't imagine how much less I would have gotten of these things had I included seaweed salad, cucumbers, etc..
the only upside is that at least the salmon portion size matched what I'd expect for the price- but the warmth and sliminess... likely won't try this place again unfortunately."

"As a sushi chef myself I can confidently say that Tokai is in my top 3 spots for sushi in SCV. The quality of the fish is very good. I appreciated the fact that they actually marinated the Ikura (salmon roe). Many sushi restaurants skip this step so you just end up eating salty salmon eggs. My only complaint is I think the marination proved to be a little too much on the sweet side. Other than that my meal was fantastic.
I ordered the BAKED GREEN MUSSELS which are probably the best tasting ones in SCV.
The red SURF CLAM SUSHI (1PC) which isn't for everyone but has always been one of my favorites.
SEARED SALMON SUSHI (1PC) which was delicious.
MONKFISH LIVER SUSHI (1PC) another one of those things that people don't normally order but it was also delicious
