The oil was soaked into the dough of all our raised donuts, to the point where we could see the puddled layers of oil saturating the center of the donuts. It was like the oil wasnt hot enough when they added the donuts, so it had time to soak into the dough before the dough on the outside could cook. I didn't mind that the chocolate glaze was strangely matte, but it didn't taste like chocolate at all. The old fashion I received was so thin, it looked like an oversized onion ring. I had the BLTA which was delicious. I asked that they use only arugala since you never know what the L might consist of and I am not a fan of any L that might wilt. It was a good choice. Not even a hint of wilting!
The sandwich had just the right amount of each ingredient so that no one item overwhelmed another (which is easy to do with bacon). My daughter had the avocado & pickled onions (which was covered in beautifully fresh dill springs) and our friend had the bodega which is always a favorite for this NYC transplant. The bagels were delicious and chewy which means they were properly boiled as that is the key to that great texture (I have made bagels during an early itteration of my life). I chose seasame so it would not interfere with the fresh flavors and it was awonderful choice.

"Wonderful comfort food. We had the borscht, chicken soup, and kharcho soup, each of which came with a couple slices of their bakery rye bread. Stroganoff was excellent and I really liked eating it with the buckwheat though I've never done that before. Also, the golubtsy were so phenomenal, I'm going to learn to cook those. The pelmeni and vareniki are always family favorites; who doesn't love dumplings? The piroshki we got were about 6.5in long. I like that they offer baked so it's not greasy and they had a good pastry to stuffing ratio. The potato one had lots of mushrooms and was my favorite. All in all, happy, full bellies tonight!"

"We were so happy when Zorek opened. This location has seen so many places come and go. You can't go wrong with any of their Lattes/Matchas. I've tried them all and have not been disappointed. The pastries are always fresh and so is the flatbread. Love their flavor choices as it's not your standard boring pastries. You can tell they are proud of what they serve and value their customers.
