"Hold your horses!!! The Kolache Dippers are a GAME CHANGER!!! No offense, but the regular kolaches are just ..., well, ... kolaches at best, or, depending on the menu item, isn't any better. But they're consistent, and the kids love a Shirley's treat every once in awhile. Today was one such day, when the weather was tempting "kids, stay home!," but the school calendar was shouting," "you can't!! Not yet!" The school calendar won the battle, but with the concession of a treat from Shirley's to motivate the kids to get up and ready. And that's when we discovered the Kolache Dippers!!! Wow!!! Ok, maybe I was just hungry, or maybe I had really low expectations. Whatever the case, I had one and thought it was magnificently flavorful, not gritty, spicy enough for me to call it "spicy," but not so spicy that teens would call it "too spicy," and the dough seemed less sweet than their regular kolache dough. I'm not sure how that is, though, because I suspect they would use the same dough ??? Maybe it is less sweet because they use a thinner layer / thinner ratio of dough. Whatever it is, they do it well! We skipped the dip! We enjoyed them plain and recommend you do the same! In fact, I suggest skip the donuts and everything else and just get a bag of the Kolache Dippers to enjoy! That's a great treat for a rainy day or, heck, any day you want an easy, hot, hand-held breakfast item or snack. Take care."

"Very expensive for what you actually get so please be advised that for the time being this is really if you want it really badly. Beef Kabob is basically three smallish pieces of beef, not a lot of rice. Tasty? Yes! But the portions are atrocious. Lamb Shank is hit or miss. Sometimes big, and sometimes small. Taste is fantastic, but portion wise not really that consistent. Shrimp Salad tastes really good and a moderate amount of shrimp, may not be enough for some. Tiramisu tastes ok not very sweet if you are not into sweet desserts this is for you. Garlic Dip is delicious and has a strong garlic flavor. I wish I had lots more meat to eat it with! 😮💨😔They are very gracious with the pita bread if you like it they will provide to you a lot. Otherwise the actual food items so little yet so expensive. Not worth it unless you need Mediterranean food rally badly and maybe do pick up to save yourself 10 or so dollars or more."

"(1) Kids Short Stack Pancakes are delicious and good portion for a child!
(2) My son chose the fruit for his side and it was a terribly small portion - about 2 or maybe 3 ounces.
(3) This was surprising because last weekend he had the kid's waffle (also good, but not as good as today's Kids Short Stack Pancakes), and last weekend the side of fruit was a generous / fair size, maybe 6-7 ounces.
(4) The Kids French Toast Sticks are out of this world!!! Great creativity in coming up with this recipe and flavor combination!!! The creme brûlée dipping sayceis genius! Please be sure the lid is secure on the sauce, though. Our lid had popped off and the sauce spilled all iverthe Kids French Toast Sticks and soaked them before they were delivered. I suspect its because of the heat of the sticks in the same container. If the restaurant wraps the sauce container in Saran Wrap before placing it in the Kids French Toast Sticks container, that will keep the lid from popping off and improve the quality of the dish, because the crispy sticks were tastier than the portions that had soaked up sauce for too long.
(5) The hard poached eggs were delicious! I chose "hard" poached to ensure they didnt arrive with the yolk already busted.even though I prefer a softer poached egg, I'll stick with ordering"hard" poached, because they withstood the travel very well and the yolk was still partially liquid. (The yolk was about 70 percent solidified and 30 percent liquid).
To give you more feedback, here is what we thought of prior orders. As you can determine, we definitely enjoyed this place enough to be a frequent return customer!
(6) The French fries were perfect! Crunchy, crispy, and not overly salted.
(7) The Hash Potatoes were disappointing. They were not crispy, and it was hard to find any bell peppers in them. They were a far cry from the well balanced and seemingly perfectly crisped Hash Potatoes with peppers shown in the restaurant's photo. Also, the plastic container partially melted / warped in transit, so we only tasted a few pieces from the center and tossed the rest, in case any plastic particles had transferred to the food.
(8) The cannoli donuts are insanely scrumptious!!! They taste like the best beignets in the world, married to the best cannolis ever!!! I do wish, however, they would add a side of "just 1" to their DoorDash menu, because 3 are too many for 1 person, especially if you're also having eggs or something else.
(9) Finally, note to the restaurant: Congratulations on your success! PLEASE: (1) add quiches to your menu (including a poblano pepper and cheese one, which would be a great compliment to your chili rellano meals and other menu items), and (2) for items with "eggs on top," such as the hashes, chilaquiles, tacos, etc, please add option for the eggs to be packed ON THE SIDE. We really want to try your chilaquiles and some other savory entrees but have not done so because they'll be ruined in transit if the eggs are packed on top or in the same container."

"Another average at best Greek/Mediterranean spot in Houston. We have tried almost all of them and most are not that good to be honest. The dip sampler was ok, tzatziki was decent, eggplant was pretty good, but the hummus was terrible we had to throw it out. Also for over $20 in sampler dips you would think they would do the right thing and give you 2-3 pittas to dip in them. Nope they barely gave us one pita, very disappointing. We even ordered extra on the side and again it was very minimal, pittas are cheap and easy to make and most spots throw in a few especially if you order extra but they did not. The pittas are very soft and fluffy though so that is a bright spot one of the better pittas in Houston.
The gyro was decent but nothing unforgettable best part of it was the pitta on the outside. We prefer thin sliced pieces of meat but they were a bit chunkier.
So overall would not recommend them at all 6/10, still the best Greek/Mediterranean food out here is Petras, at least they give tons of meat on their gyros and the meat is flavorful instead of bland like most of these places."
