"Ate it too fast to take pictures, but... the Oxtail fell off the bone just like it should, and the rice and peas were delicious. It was a massive portion of food, too. Well worth the price.
The Macaroni & cheese wasn't creamy the way I prefer it, but it was cheesy and flavorful. All around -- very good, very filling."
"10/10 for the Rasta Pasta (Shrimp & Jerk Chicken) , and the Chicken Soup. Both were extremely flavorful, chicken was juicy, and proportions were amazing. Tried this place on a whim, and would order again!"

"This jerk chicken is so delicious! It tasted like authentic Jamaican cuisine...not just some jerk sauce slapped on some chicken. Made me feel like I was in Jamaica! This was our first time ordering from here. We will definitely be ordering again!"
"Oxtails here were pretty good. I would order again. The jerk chicken was Smokey but they forgot my jerk sauce. It was definitely good but more chicken for the price. Stewed pork wasn't the best. Mac and cheese reminded me of Popeyes which isn't bad. Cabbage was delicious and spicy. Rice and peas by the time I got it was very glued together, not the best. I paid extra for oxtail gravy on the rice and it was almost nothing there. Overall the veggies, Mac, jerk, and oxtails were pretty good and I'd order again."

"Food is always good Curry Goat portions and taste great and fresh.
Female workers are very respectful and polite! She even called to ask me if I'd want rice and peas because it's no more white rice . Order again and again"
"They're usually excellent with their orders. For some reason their Oxtail Beef tasted like jerk seasoning which is unusual AND on top of it I ordered a large and was literally given only tiny small oxtail with fat. No large sizes of oxtail and the value was nothing compared to the last time I ordered. Not pleased this time. I sure hope I don't have this issue in the future."

"The platters were sooo good and seasoned to perfection!!! Nice portons. The Stewed chicken special and the Curried Chicken Roti the flavor is on point, hands down 5 stars in regard to flavor. The only negative issue (but not so negative) I would have to say wouldbe that I would have preferred chicken pieces in the roti to not have the bones, lol. I was enjoying it so much when I went to bite down, I bit into a large bone. So had to remove the bones. Overall, hands down a must try. I will be ordering again. They were sold out of the Pound Cake but did offer me a coconut as replacement. The coconut cake is pretty good also."
"This was my first time ordering from Island Spot and to be honest I was scared. It's the fourth Caribbean restaurant I've tried and I was worried because of past experiences.
The way the carefully wapped the food was impressive. I have not seen that. The mixed steamed veggies were not soggy but crunchy and flavorful. The Medium Curried Chicken was a nice portionfor the price and very good. The rice and peas was fresh and wasn't dry or soggy, just right.
Although they delivered quicker than the estimated 30 mins, the food was a bit cold. I was also unable to choose between white rice or rice and peas, which I found odd. "

"This place is as beautiful and the food is amazing! The chicken was so juicy and tasty. Plantains were fresh, perfectly salted, and crisp. I wish the rasta pasta was a little less dry. Overall, amazing and pretty plating, I didn't even wanted to ruin the presentation. "
"The Jerk Chicken had great flavor and a nice smoky char, but it was on the dry side, and chopping it up left a lot of small, tough, bony pieces. If it weren't for how many bony pieces I received, I'd say this was a good portion for the price.
The rice and peas was a real letdown. It tasted completely unseasoned, and I unfortunately got stuck with clumps from the bottom of the pot that were dry, mushy, and devoid of any coconut or herbal flavor. The house jerk sauce had a decent tang and helped rescue the dry chicken, but overall, it missed the mark.
Would I order again? Maybe, but there are better places for jerk chicken so not anytime soon"

"Absolutely loved my Coconut Curry Shrimp. The food was incredibly fresh and tasty. Authentic Trinidadian flavor.... the food melts in your mouth. I will be ordering again.... soon!"
"The curry goat roti for $24.49 was not worth the price!! The meal was with only 4 small pieces of meat that had a lot of chipped bones in the gravy, plus there was a lot of potatoes that I didn't care for. It also came with a small scoop of pumpkin and channa.. considering how inexpensive pumpkin and channa is the serving size could have been better. Definitely a 2 out of 10 rating!!!"

"I have always liked the taste of their food better than any other Jamaican restaurant I've tried in my area:. Only issue is that most times I order, I am missing food. "As a Jacan, Trinis make the best roti period. Glad this restaurant came across my feed. Best roti in this side of town."
"I was so excited to see a TT cafe nearby I just had to try it.
Staring with the Doubles , the pepper had a very spiced mustardy taste, which I loved. I hate when something is just hot for nothing, it was both hot and flavorful. The barra was a little bigger than I'm used to but as a result one was enough. Very pleasant, 8/10.
The bake and Saltfish stole the show honestly. It was still so very hot when it arrived, the bake was quite fresh as well as the saltfish. Pleasantly seasoned. This is going to be my go to. 11/10 please don't ever change this!
The Buss Up was nice, standard. I loved it. Going to go great with my meal tonight.
Lastly the Aloo Pie could've been better. I would've liked to try it without the extra sauces, as the flavors overwhelmed the pie.
I wish the Currant Rolls were in stock, I crave them so bad. Next time though, as I'll surely be ordering again. Thank you to the staff!"

I have genuinely never had a better chicken soup in my life. I don't even like yucca, and this worked incredibly well with it. Honestly, better than most sancocho I've had. it was flavorful and the consistency of sancocho, but with its own direction and a few noodles."
"I paid $16 for a sancocho it was good but the container you guys give it in i barely get any soup because if the meat , the bones, the potatoes etc. basically it was $16 wasted for barely any soup. When i threw it in the plate it was barely anything but meat and vegetables. This is not worth $16 st all $21 with service fee smh"

"I'm here from a different state , whenever I go to another state. I always make it my business to taste Haitian food. Magela's your tomtom gumbo is delicious, very flavorful, 10/10 . Next time I'm in town, I will definitely buy it again. The goat meat are way too big for me and I did not get any pikliz which makes it hard for me to eat the goat because it's not spicy. The same for the pig ears. The plantain is not fried to perfection. They are big and not crispy but tasty. If you had sent me one little pikliz my taste buds would have been happier. I will definitely recommend Magela's to my friends and families. By the way I saw that the pikliz was $2+ but I thought that was for extra, I don't know any Haitian restaurant that serves food without pikliz. I will make sure to add pikliz next time. The Akra was not too flavorful but eatable."
"Been craving Haitian food for a while, and I’m so glad I found this spot in East Orange, NJ. The food is fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Portions are generous, more than enough and the prices are very reasonable. This was my second order, and it’s officially my go-to spot whenever I’m in town."

"ordered the fried chicken, it was pretty decent. only thing I didn't like is the fact they only gave one piece of meat when usually as a Jamaican, when you buy a small food, it's usually 3 piece a meat that's served.. otherwise from that, the chicken was seasoned well."
"Are you serious ? 12.99 to receive two little pieces of Jerk Chicken ?? For $12.99 you can go into any REAL RESTAURANT and get more food and taste 10x better. Idk who eating this but more power to you. Thanks for ruining my lunch break. Zero jerk taste, rice is mid, cabbage is also mid. I wish I could give zero stars

"I love this place. The Alfajores are amazing: super fresh and the flavor is perfect. The Banana Loaf is very good: the texture is fluffy and so flavorful. The empanadas are my favorite, especially the mushroom with maduro. They are paired with a chimichurri-like sauce and the combination of the flavors are so delicious. "
"The fried yucca appetizer and short rib meal, both tasted like the oil was old and rancid. $9.20 for a quantity of white rice that is usually $2. Overall, it was oily, bland, and definitely not worth the price. This was simply one of the worst meals I've had in a while."

"I'm fairly new to African cuisine, and today I tried the Banku and okro soup. It was AMAZING! I planned to take a picture, but I dug right in! The portions were so generous that I have enough for 2 meals. I've tried a few African restaurants recently, and Tasti Cuisine is definitely my favorite so far! The lady who answered the phone was also super sweet and helpful. Great food and great customer service! I'll definitely be back!"
"Very spicy and they gave me two measly prices of turkey ..Wouod not reccomend if you have low spice tolerance and the plantain was seemingly left out for some time before serving. The portion is small for twelve I expected a bit more ."

"Very good. I thought the large would of been a little bigger than it was but other than that the food is great. Just enough seasoning and the dumplings are good tasting and good for the dipping in the gravy."
"I ordered fried saltfish and asked in the special instructions if I could substitute provisions and boiled dumplings for rice and beans. Someone from the restaurant called to let me know that was fine but they were a little low on saltfsh and would I be ok if they mixed it with callaloo and I said yes. Well I will be asking for that again and referring this restaurant. Food was PERFECTION. Food is fresh, well prepared, flavorful (not salty, FLAVORFUL) portions are well worth the price, and the customer care is top rate. Thank you Ma'am"

"Best Ackee and Saltfish in NJ!
This spot serves the most authentic and flavorful ackee and saltfish I’ve ever had. The ackee is buttery, the saltfish perfectly seasoned, and the balance of peppers, onions, and spices is spot on. Paired with fried dumplings or plantains, it’s a true taste of Jamaica. Highly recommend!"
"Classic little neighborhood restaurant, it seemed like everyone knew eachother and it was a rally friendly atmosphere. I got a small jerk chicken and small rasta pasta and it was more than enough for 2 people. Generous portions and the food was FANTASTIC. Also, best beef patty I've ever had in my life. 10/10 will be coming back for sure."
