Slightly sweet, smoky, and umami. Sooo delicious and different. The steak itself is rated 8-9 which is the highest rating for Wagyu and yes, it lived up to the hype. "Hands down favorite Queso in town, I prefer the yellow/original. It has a smoky flavor, no meat in it. Their side fresca salsa (mild) has been my favorite for 30+ years, I recommend mixing in a bit of the side picante salsa (medium spicy) for the best blend. The picante has a hint of black pepper I believe.
The original rice you can order alone as a side or with meal and is amazing. It does not have traditional tomato flavor, it's more of a pilaf style, savory flavor topped with green onions and tomatoes. The regular refried beans have a nice flavor, maybe ham? not burnt, bland, dry or overseasoned. Sometimes I just order guacamole, rice, refried beans, queso, soft flour tortillas, salsa/picante, and a side of grilled veggies (squash, mushrooms, etc) and of course their chips. :)
