This month, I’ve been making an effort to support small businesses because I’ve been disappointed by the customer service at so many large corporations. Tonight was my first order, and it was for my sister, who is pregnant with triplets.
I don’t expect perfection, and they happened to be out of macaroni and cheese (which honestly tells me the food must be amazing because it sold out!). Summer, one of the employees, contacted me right away to let me know they had just served the last of it. She even offered to make an entirely new pan if I wanted some, explaining it would only be about a 30-minute wait. Keep in mind, they only had about an hour left before closing! That level of customer service was incredibly thoughtful and truly went above and beyond.
I don’t like inconveniencing people, and neither does my sister, so Summer also gave us several alternatives to choose from. Realistically, restaurants run out of popular items, and that’s completely understandable. We decided on collard greens instead.
I mentioned that the meal was for my sister, who is pregnant with triplets and due any day now. Since she hasn’t gone into labor yet, her doctors are still allowing her to eat. As a sweet surprise, they included an extra side of candied yams. When I arrived to pick up the order, everyone was just as kind. They congratulated us on the three new additions who will soon be joining our family, and they genuinely shared in our excitement.
This is exactly what I love about small businesses and what I sometimes miss at fast-food and chain restaurants. It’s the personal connection. The people cared. They related to us. I didn’t feel like I was just another transaction—I felt like a valued customer and, more importantly, a human being.
They have absolutely earned my business, as well as my family’s. I will be leaving positive reviews everywhere I can and recommending them to everyone I know.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making my first stop in supporting small businesses such a wonderful experience. You’ve gained lifelong customers, and I can’t wait to come back.

The Meatball Sub (14") was sooooo good too. Yes $24 is expensive but we didn't think 7 inches would be enough. The whole sandwich was huuuuge and heavy. The best meatball sub we've tried. Many meatball subs are quite dry and plain, but this was deliciously seasoned and cheesy and had a good amount of sauce. Huge. Could feed 2 people. Many meatballs. The Big Double Chocolate Brownie was a little over $8 but we saw it was served in a little circle aluminum thing that told us it might be great so we ordered it. Super rich and delectable. Literally melts in your mouth. My favorite brownie is from Ghirardelli and this is even better. It stays warm and ooey and gooey. You won't be disappointed. "
