"The Regular Top Loaded Fries are way smaller and sadder than they look in the pictures, there's about as many fries as there are pieces of chicken in it (6 if you order the regular size). Same and even worse goes for the Dave’s Mini Sliders, they're literally one bite sliders. I spent about $50 (a little over, actually) and do not feel satisfied at all. Every thing you order asks if you want ketchup, I think I put yes for two of my three items, thinking I'd get maybe a couple per ordered item, but no, they literally give you one small packet of ketchup. The 'hot' level of spice was good, I was expecting pretty spicy and I enjoyed it, for the 'medium' spicy things, they didn't taste spicy at all, it felt like such a huge jump between the two levels. The taste was pretty decent I'll say, but it just doesn't make up for all of these issues I had. Maybe I jumped on the Dave's hot chicken train a bit too late, but I'm just not a fan. If you are close enough and have the means for it, definitely recommend Crimson Coward over Dave's."

"Flavors of the sliced brisket and hot links were delicious! Didn't give much brisket though compared to how many sausages you get. They gave full-sized sides which was awesome - bigger than I expected. The Mac and cheese was a lil funky.... but I wasn't mad at it. Just not my favorite! Coleslaw was pretty standard but still flavorful. Tasted like the used some onion in it which I appreciate. Cornbread was dry and no sweetness - will probably have the leftover with some butter and sprinkle a little sugar. Biggest disappointment: my slice of key lime pie was so tiny that it was comical! Which is a shame, because it was the best key lime pie I've ever had! Not worth the price unless they can be more generous. Overall, a little steep but I mostly enjoyed my meal."

"Our family has been BBQ'ing for many years the good old fashioned way. Low and slow on a smoker for hours. Most of the time we order BBQ from a restaurant it is a disappointing experience. Usually there is no smoky flavor, and the meats are more steamed than smoked. But this place is legit!
We ordered the Smokehouse Three Meat Feast, with pulled pork, chicken, and baby back ribs. The pork was flavorful and moist, the chicken juicy and well seasoned, and the ribs were perfectly toothsome, with a beautiful smoke ring. The sauce was a crowd pleaser. My husband prefers a sauce with spice and vinegar, but this sweet sauce was tasty.
The Sliders were great, about twice the size I expected. We had brisket and pork. The cornbread was sweet and moist, but a little too soft, almost like it was underbaked. The baked beans were excellent.
We ordered three desserts. The Aunt Cheryl's Peach Cobbler was not to our liking, as it didn't have much flavor. The Homemade Bread Pudding tasted great, but was very soggy and wet. The Butter Toffee Cake was fantastic, and we will get it again next time.
Very happy to have discovered this restaurant. We will certainly order again!"

"A couple of years ago I left an average review for Robert Earl's. In a rare occurrence I actually had the owner reach out to me and offer a free meal upon my return, which instantly made me a fan because it says how important a customer centric experience is to his business.
I felt bad that I live in Sacramento and hadn't had a chance to return to Robert Earl's in a significant amount of time but I was committed to returning based upon the owners desire to satisfy a customer.
In full transparency, I didn't accept the free meal offered by the owner (I sincerely appreciated the jesture) as I didn't want it to in any way impact my review. I'm happy I returned, it wasn't only good it was EXCELLENT!! The ribs and the rib-tips were cooked to perfection, VERY tender and favorable. The sauce is sweet with a hint of heat which is excellent as it doesn't overpower the flavor of the meat. The Greens were tender, the bake beans were good and didn't taste like they had soaked in the restaurants BBQ sauce. But the real star is, as it should be, the BBQ!! Everything else after that is a bonus!!
I HIGHLY recommend Robert Earl's, and will ALWAYS make an effort to eat there whenever I'm in Southern, Ca.
