But they're consistent, and the kids love a Shirley's treat every once in awhile. Today was one such day, when the weather was tempting "kids, stay home!," but the school calendar was shouting," "you can't!! Not yet!" The school calendar won the battle, but with the concession of a treat from Shirley's to motivate the kids to get up and ready. And that's when we discovered the Kolache Dippers!!! Wow!!! Ok, maybe I was just hungry, or maybe I had really low expectations. Whatever the case, I had one and thought it was magnificently flavorful, not gritty, spicy enough for me to call it "spicy," but not so spicy that teens would call it "too spicy," and the dough seemed less sweet than their regular kolache dough. I'm not sure how that is, though, because I suspect they would use the same dough ??? Maybe it is less sweet because they use a thinner layer / thinner ratio of dough. Whatever it is, they do it well! We skipped the dip! We enjoyed them plain and recommend you do the same! In fact, I suggest skip the donuts and everything else and just get a bag of the Kolache Dippers to enjoy! That's a great treat for a rainy day or, heck, any day you want an easy, hot, hand-held breakfast item or snack. Take care."

The Kolache's are some of the best we have had in Houston. Soft and slightly sweet bread and filled with delicious meats and cheese. Our favorites were the ham and cheese, the Jalapeno sausage and cheese, and the brisket.
The breakfast sandwich on croissant was good as well, tasted like actual breakfast sausage.
The donuts we tried were delicious and super soft like little clouds and the eclair was excellent, they actually fill their eclairs proper with lots of cream more than most places.
The Vietnamese coffees were great, strong like you'd expect and the matcha was amazing.
Overall we give them 9/10 very good and highly recommend."

"I hadn’t eaten at Taqueria Flores in years, but after reading the reviews, I decided to give them another try. Unfortunately, I should have trusted my gut and saved my $40.
I ordered the tostadas, the crunchy taco special, and queso. I only wanted bean tostadas, but the order required me to select a protein, so I chose chicken. I even picked the food up myself, thinking that would ensure the tostadas and tacos were fresh and crunchy. I live only about four minutes away, but by the time I got home, everything was already soggy.
The tostadas had very little flavor and seemed to have more tomatoes and cheese than lettuce. The “crunchy” tacos were just as disappointing—they were soggy rather than crisp and lacked flavor as well.
The queso was another disappointment. It tasted sour and was surprisingly bland, with very little of the rich, cheesy flavor you expect from good queso. Between the soggy food and the sour-tasting queso, there really wasn’t anything about the meal that I enjoyed.
Both the tacos and tostadas were part of a buy-one-get-one-free special, but unfortunately, getting twice as much disappointing food didn’t make it a better deal.
Next time, I’ll stick with the food truck near Exxon. Their tacos and tostadas are made to order, fresh, crunchy, and packed with flavor. I really wanted to enjoy Taqueria Flores again, but this experience was a disappointment and definitely not worth the $40 I spent."
