"I used to love Sharkeez & frequently visit the restaurant. Not a fan of their current chef. I ordered the Shrimp Taco Dorado & it was STILL RAW. It was barely cooked. Just look at the picture. Imagine biting into your taco & feeling the slimy, raw texture of shrimp. This is the second issue I have had with this restaurant. Last time, they forgot a fish taco. Figured I would order that missing Baja Fish Taco. What a mistake. Its supposed to be like the famous shrimp tacos but no, its MISSING Ingredients. It is one of those instagram vs reality kind of meals I guess. Sharqeez used to have a good Chef, now I cannot trust anything coming out of that kitchen. Either their chef is lazy, incompetent, or both. The Sweet Corn Cake is a ripoff. It is the smallest cake or cupcake, whatever its actually supposed to actually be. "OMG I live off their Chicken Avocado Street Tacos and Chicken Avocado Quesadillas!! I substitute Chopped Chicken Breast for the thigh meat (reasonable upcharge of less than $2), ask for an extra cup of creamy cilantro dressing, and I'm in Heaven!!!
This store gets my order right 99.5% of the time, and they almost never overcook the meat.
Other stores mess up my order all the time by not giving me the breast that I paid for, overcooking the meat to the point that it's dry, or not giving me the side of creamy cilantro dressing that I requested. It's so annoying at other locations that I really try to come only to this store.
My only gripe is that sometimes, they make the taco way too full of liquid, so the tortilla immediately gets soggy. I'm guessing they don't strain the liquid out of the pico before they put it in the taco. I would ask for no pico because of this, but I like the taste. Maybe I'll try it on the side next time.
But soggy or not, the taco still tastes good. For some reason, this never happens to the quesadilla; maybe because that seal it shut with heat.
I'd get the quesadilla all the time due to this, but it's much bigger than the taco, and I usually don't want that much food.
Their chips are great (nobody beats Chipotle's chips, though) and their guacamole is amazing!!! I could live off that, too!!!
Their churros are pretty good. They always have plenty of sugar and cinnamon on them. Is there such a thing as too much? I'm just not sure about how good of a job they do at cooking them. They almost always seem overcooked.
