"I’ve had great experiences with El Huaraches Mexican Grill earlier this year, so I’m not leaving a dislike or refund request, this is just feedback for future orders.
I ordered during the weekend from the special cemitas menu: one breaded chicken cemita and one steak cemita (with a note for no cheese on the steak due to lactose intolerance). Instead, I received a breaded chicken torta and a plate of three tostadas, along with a note saying the original items couldn’t be delivered and were replaced.
I understand substitutions happen, but a few things made this order difficult:
- The mystery meat on the tostadas was extremely fatty and gelatinous, and unfortunately no one could stomach it. We would’ve been completely fine with a simple, common substitution like chicken, pork, or beef.
- The torta was much drier and tougher than the one I had earlier this year, almost like reheated leftovers. It also had cheese, so the person with dietary restrictions couldn’t eat it, and since the tostadas didn’t work out either, they ended up with nothing.
They did include a free soda and a side of chips (no guac), which I appreciate. Maybe I just ordered at a bad time, because I genuinely had an excellent experience previously.
My only recommendation is: if substitutions are necessary, it would really help to swap with a common, straightforward option rather than something unusual, especially when dietary notes are included.
I’ll likely order again because I’ve enjoyed the food before. I’m just hoping the next experience is closer to the quality I had earlier this year."

"I eat here once a week and get one of their burrito bowls. They are totally customizable and they are enormous. They're such incredible value. The ingredients are always delicious and fresh and at the appropriate temperature. In addition to the burrito bowls, they make the most delicious chips fresh daily. Their guac is very good. Their flan is decent. Their Horchata is excellent. The fajitas are OK. The quesadillas are very delicious with a excellent selection of cheeses and other proteins if you want to add them. All in all cactus café does a pretty darn good job. I highly recommend."

"I wouldn't order from here again. The Nachos Supreme were okay but I've had better at many places. There was A LOT of melted cheese on top which might not be a complaint for some but it was a bit too much for me. Oddly enough, the cheese appeared to be mozzarella which seems strange choice for a Mexican restaurant. Had I know the cheese would be mozzarella, I wouldn't have ordered this item. The refried beans had no seasoning and the chips were unsalted. Just flavor needed overall. The Empanadas were okay. They were a bright yellow color and seemed to be a cornmeal-ish texture. They were crispy and the filling inside was good. I did it have the sauce that comes with it so I can't comment on that. What irked me about these empanadas was that they came on a bed of wilted lettuce. The bottoms were completely wet and soggy but the rest of them were very crisp and perfect. Just a stupid way to serve them and for no reason because the lettuce isn't something anyone is going to eat. I really wanted dessert and debated what to get. The Chocolate Cake was okay. The cake itself was dry and didn't have much chocolate flavor but the frosting was good. It was edible because of the frosting. "
