"The #23 off Togo's menu — Genoa Salami and Provolone — has changed my mind about sub sandwiches. I've never been a fan of the genre — usually it's a bad meat-to-bread ratio, soggy soft rolls, and bland flavor all around. Not here.
The salami has real spice without going overboard, and the sandwich is stuffed full. Every ingredient — the meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pepperoncini — is in the right proportion, and even with the bold salami and pepperoncini, you can still clearly taste the provolone in every bite. Most sandwiches peak somewhere in the middle, but here the first bite, middle bite, and last bite are all equally good.
The bread has actual chew and substance — not a hard French roll, but definitely not the balloon bread you get most places. I always order it without mayo, and most places get that wrong about half the time. Togo's has nailed it every single time.
